My self-summary
I'm a giant nerd. Originally from Oklahoma, spent a few years in the Washington, DC area, and currently in Portland, Oregon.

Current hair status: pink.

I am not very masculine.

I am poly. I have many relationships going on, and I love it. I am married to julieta-k, who is amazing.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a software engineer. I like to think of myself as a scientist though. I have lots of random projects going on at any given time.

I love writing. When I do write, it's mostly as a technical writer, but I think I might try my hand at fiction at some point in the future? (Nanowrimo perhaps?) I have a great idea for a short story or novella that I'm working through.

I am ridiculously curious. I love learning, reading, and getting lost in Wikipedia for days.
I’m really good at
I tell amazingly bad jokes!

What I do for a living, hopefully.

I used to be a pretty good DDR player -- but I've retired. I still can't help but play a machine I see in a mall or movie theater, though.
The first things people usually notice about me
I usually have a bushy red beard, bright-colored hair, bright t-shirt, and a kilt.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I love books.

I read quite a bit of speculative fiction. Like everyone else, some of my favorite novels are probably those written by George R. R. Martin (A Game of Thrones and its sequels). I really loved Ender's Game and The Worthing Saga by OSC, but, well, he's an ass. :/ I've also been enjoying, more recently, The Culture books by Iain M. Banks, and the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold. I really loved Felicia Day's book. Some of my other favorites include The Forever War, Fire Upon the Deep, Ancillary Justice, Name of the Wind, ...

I ingest a ton of non-fiction as part of my jobs, and for fun too. Mostly scientific, technical, and computerish books.

Movies: I am slightly less picky about movies. I watch a lot, and enjoy most of them. Drama, suspense, action, horror, sci-fi, comedy, western, whatever. Sometimes the worse, the better. Silly can be great. Even better if they sing throughout. Pitch Perfect and The Last Five Years are great. I love you Anna Kendrick!

Music: Ditto with music. My playlist seems to focus on rock, techno, classical, musicals, and some folkish stuff.

TV: Do you mean Netflix? Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Dark Matter, Continuum, Archer, 30 Rock, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, the Star Treks, Firefly, Futurama.

Podcasts: Serial, Startup, Mystery Show, Sistertime, Guys We Fucked.

Food: Well, I'm very picky here. I love Indian food most of all. Italian, Mexican, and American are always good. I am mostly vegetarian.
The six things I could never do without
My laptop. My laptop is my life.

My Kindle. Ones I've read and ones I will read. I'm a bit of a bibliophile.

Paper and pens. I'm currently going through a fountain pen fetish.

Diet Dr Pepper, the superior beverage.

Kilts. Because pants suck.

A good backpack or messenger bag to carry everything.

I could really live without my phone. Sometimes I think how much fun it would be to switch back to having a landline and no cell phone.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sometimes where I am going to be and what I am going to do in my life.

But sometimes I get really caught up in the little details. Like, oh noes, what font am I going to use for this? Are those M&Ms sorted by color? Are my cookies put into even rows on this tray here?

I try to keep some of those feelings at bay.

Most of the time I am probably just pondering love, work, and fun.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out, possibly hanging out with a friend, or playing board games, or at a movie, or something.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I secretly love musicals. Even bad ones, sometimes. Okay, definitely some bad ones.

I guess that's not much of a secret considering my name comes from a musical.
You should message me if
You are a fellow old cat lady at heart.

If you want to see any horror movies with me? Really, if you want to see *any* movie is fine, but for some reason I don't have any friends who like horror movies, and it's kind of boring to go by myself.
