My self-summary
Insatiably curious autodidact. I like cheap cars, secondhand jeans, good surf, and expensive whiskey.

I've always been fascinated with how and why things work and spent a large portion of my childhood disassembling anything that ran on electricity. I grew up on an island and have a deep personal connection to the sea.

I've appeared on the food network not once but twice and won neither time. My cooking is alright.
What I’m doing with my life
On my own time I'm an electronic musician, furniture builder, old motorcycle/car restoration hobbyist, kitchen wizard, and I've recently been getting out to do some traveling.

Work-wise I'm pushing forward with two career paths I'm extremely passionate about -- Film industry art department, and interactive tech / live lighting / installation design. What that means is some days I'm writing lighting control software and audio reactive visuals, and some days I'm turning an empty stage into a 1920s basement. I'm fortunate to be finding success in things that I started doing for fun and I am constantly stoked to be doing what I do.
I’m really good at
Teaching myself how to do things, delivering bad news in a gentle way, befriending people's animals, gracefully admitting when I'm wrong, and being persistently and genuinely happy.

Terrible at remembering where I parked my car, set down my keys, and going to bed early enough.
The first things people usually notice about me
My life is a neverending stream of acquaintances and introductions (freelance life) and the two examples that stick out from recently are someone nearly shouting with enthusiasm that I 'smell like candy' as well as someone else telling me they loved my hair. I might be princess bubblegum.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a snob about none of this and enjoy most things that are shared with me, but some noteworthy personal favorites are a good starting point--

Books: Oryx and Crake (Margaret Atwood), Hemingway, Anthony Bourdain, really terrible 70s paperback fantasy anthologies with a special emphasis on Piers Anthony. Currently reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods.

Music: I'm on an 80s futurism kick right now with Com Truise and M83 in heavy rotation. I love a lot of niche electronica that you'll either tolerate, learn to love, or geek out with me because you're into the same stuff - Machinedrum, Jimmy Edgar, Tycho, Bop, etc.

Shows: If I had to paint with a broad brush it'd be science fiction and anything Tina Fey is involved in, but if it means junk food and blanket forts I'm totally into that show you love to binge on netflix too.
Six things I could never do without
change of clothes, passport, laptop, swingtop glass water bottle, grid paper notebook+pen, and a comically large set of headphones. I can live without most things, but that's what goes everywhere with me generally.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Is there anything better than french fry pizza?
On a typical Friday night I am
Gallavanting around downtown drinking with my friends and then getting taco truck tacos.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I pet wandering mystery cats with no regard for toxoplasmosis.

I'm the only person on okcupid who's never been to Machu Picchu.

You're fun, intelligent, and you'll be nice to my catmega bonus if you have a cat (mine died recently).

Bonus points for adventurous eaters, animal lovers, rooftop drinking, arts and crafts, film photography, long conversations, comfortable silences, and intellectual curiosity.
