My self-summary
I'm a hard-drinking, super nerdy, atheist, left-liberal, feminist, anti-racist, anti-classist, ethically non-monogamous, know-it-all, geeky, chain e-cigarette smoking, melancholic wannabe hipster.

I'm ready to start fighting for what is good about my country.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a quantitative reporter and associate markets editor in the magical world of new media. I make a lot of charts, maps, and rankings, and I help my colleagues write better posts about the inner workings of late capitalism. Sometimes I get to ramble about something cool in math, statistics, or economics. It's a good job.
I’m really good at
Math, logic, teaching, blogging, singing bass, obsessing about things, hating on the kyriarchy, and melting into a pile of goo whenever i pet a cat.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair. My mediocre taste in clothing. The fact that I'm probably talking to myself and gesticulating wildly.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(a) Big piles of sci-fi, fantasy, political science, and history. Recent sci fi includes a bunch of Neil Stephenson and Iain Banks. Also just finished Trekonomics. Currently slowly working my way through The Three Body Problem and Masha Gerson's "The Man With No Face"

(b) All time favorite movies: Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, the even numbered Star Trek movies, and anything made by Pixar. Recent favorites: The Lobster was neat, Weiner is the greatest documentary of this decade, and I finally watched the Lego Movie and thought it was adorbs as hell.

(c) Star Trek, cynical comedies, and epic well-crafted dramas. Recently watched Veep, just did my second watching of Westworld and slowly rewatching Deep Space Nine. Always looking for good suggestions for the next movie or show to watch.

(d) An awkward mix of classical, 90s alternative, and vaguely electronic pop. Will always listen to Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, and Bach.

(e) Sushi, curry, hamburgers, pad kimao, fried chicken, pizza

Also, for the super nerdly nerds out there, I've probably spent a year of my life playing the games made by the good people of BioWare, Firaxis, and Blizzard.
The six things I could never do without
coffee, friendship, my body, information, cats, decent data visualization tools
I spend a lot of time thinking about
math, data sources, argument structure, artificial intelligence, sex, politics and history, video games, the shape of the new trumpian world

Also what I'm going to do once everything is run by robots.
On a typical Friday night I am
I take an extreme approach to weekends. I'm either lazy and watching Netflix until 2 am or bar hopping until I can barely find my way home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm hopelessly attracted to complex situations.

I use bayes' rule to roughly estimate how dates are going.

Not being horrible is also a necessary condition.
