My self-summary
I would like to be a leader of a space cult but teaching high school is a close second. I identify with anarchism, punk, and diy but spend my free time going on a hike or in my garden. I'm kinda a nerd, read a lot, cook, play board games, ride my bike everywhere, and travel every summer somewhere far away.

I'm from Cincinnati but spent some time in SE Ohio which is one of my favorite spots, moved to DC for a bit and now California has been my home for the last 7 and some years.

I'm better at coming up with alternative reality selves than I am an actual self summary.

I was on the front page of gawker and the take down notice was successful so i am no longer internet famous. Careful what you wish for.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm trying to have new experiences, not get boring or bored, meet good folks that are challenging and trustworthy, and get over my hang ups. Those consist of but are not limited to 3 pronged forks, occasionally braids (in my own hair), raw tomatoes, the cops, pop punk, dried fruit, being a jerk for no reason, metallica after and justice for all, and jazz.

I'm still trying to make the world better although I realize that struggle is local and limited. I get a rush from the disruption of business as normal even if it can be counter productive.

Finding new costumes for the costume closet. Dancing.

Feeling the pull of live fast die young while simultaneously being a role model for young folks.

Creative destruction

Should "Legalize It" be protected political speech in a high school dress code?
I’m really good at
I'm proud of my work as a teacher. I have great relationships with my kids and they learn a ton. I'm pretty current on world affairs and economics (since that's what I teach) and if you want to learn, I can talk about it forever but usually don't. My post apocalypse garden is doing quite well and I've learned a lot about growing food and native plants in the last couple of years. As long as the quake doesn't burn my yard down, we've got collards for days.

I'm good at staying up late and getting to work ready to go the next day.

I'm awful at Spanish, even after going to language school but I am determined to learn it sometime soon. or not.

I got a grant to do community outreach with my union which is really exciting right now. minimum wage increase - i got my eyes on you.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a long hair and a weirdo (but in an amusing way). I have my shit together but sometimes am a little rough around the edges. I really enjoy big buggy eyed sunglasses but have a habit of breaking them (my real glasses are starting to interfere with this enjoyment). I'm an extrovert and get paid to talk for a living.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I go to a lot of shows, mostly of the punk and metal variety but will support my friends regardless of genre. Somehow the whole 90s indie thing passed me by. I prefer my music slow and dark or fast and loud. I also listen to a lot of music that has no words but creeps under my skin. I could list a whole bunch of bands but it doesn't matter that much and you can message me if you are curious.

The last books I read: Revolt and Crisis in Greece, Why Nations Fail, Debt: The first 5000 years, The New Jim Crow, some short stories by Murakami, The Lean Start up, Too Big Too Fail, Telegraph Ave, zines, American Babylon, Sex at Dawn, Maddadam, Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief, Just Kids, Principia Discordia, This Is How You Lose Her, Super Sad True Love Story
Reading Now: taking recommendations....

Creating a for fun summer reading list for my students is way harder than it seems. Next challenge...bands they should know. It may be even more challenging.

I'm vegan and a decent cook. It's a personal choice and I'm not judgmental about it. that said, the food industry is gross and it is important to at least be critical and reflective on how we grow food and what we put in our bodies. I've been trying to perfect thai coconut milk soup. I made some wild mushroom stuffing recently and have a soft spot for cincinnati style chili. I don't really care what others eat but I enjoy cooking food with people. I prefer food to be a community event and love when I come home and someone else has made something or offers to cook together.

What is possible.

how my friends got to be so awesome and how i'm jealous of all the cool shit they are up to.

What I want to make for dinner.

A teacher I work with had her seniors create an OkCupid profile for Adolf Hitler. Appropriate?
On a typical Friday night I am
drinking, smoking, acting cool.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm looking for fun dates. I don't have a lot of expectations and am not hiding anything. I'm upfront about my needs, what I can give, and how I live. If you are into kink, that is a plus for me. It isn't a deal breaker but I'm looking to get outside of my comfort zones, learn and teach.

I am typically non monogamous and prefer open relationships. Dates are fun in and of themselves. I'm not 'searching' for anything in particular.
You should message me if
you think the prison industrial complex has got to go.

We can go on a hike and you can teach me the names of all the plants.
