My self-summary
Struggling to re-write this, piece by piece. It's tough to put yourself out there without sounding like douche, or someone with an overactive thyroid. Everyone seems to be pursuing grand life goals and has a million and one side projects, and in their spare time, they rescue baby dolphins from burning orphanages. I try for a simpler life: Work well, exercise, meditate, read, laugh, drink. Self-improvement then assimilates naturally into your daily life, instead of being something forced and faked.

I'm a tech geek/martial artist/repressed writer. I'm a male aware of his own privilege. I embrace new world philosophy while proud of my Eastern European culture. I work late hours and odd days, and most of my friends are settled with kids, so I'd like to find more people locally. It's tough to break through Toronto's clique-ish mindset, so here I am.

I also pay more attention to the questions section of a profile
than the self-summary. Although it's always interesting to read
about how people see themselves, I find how the questions are
answered usually paints a clearer picture. Don't you?
What I’m doing with my life
I've worn many hats, recently transitioned from a career in IT/telecom into Social Media. It's the best job I ever had, despite the hours.

I'm seriously rediscovering my love for Muay Thai. The rigorous training, the conditioning, the exhaustion after an intense workout is a high that grabs my entire being.

I train martial arts and teach people to defend themselves.

I'm also in pursuit of that elusive balance in my life where one achieves serenity.
I’m really good at
Martial Arts, I've been studying for over 20 years. It's very much part of my life. I teach Muay Thai privately and train occasionally with the local Dog Brothers Martial Arts group for stick fighting.

Technology, I can fix a computer and a smartphone in my sleep.

Politics, from the idiotic, to the shameful, to the strategically brilliant, I enjoy debating about local and international issues.

Puns, I've made Spider Robinson groan once. (bonus points if you know who that is)
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes, they change colour with my moods. The fact I usually wear mostly black.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
These days, I read either for self-improvement or to get my brain away from work. Hugely into the Urban Fantasy genre. Anything by Jim Butcher, other authors I enjoy are David Eddings, Robert Heinlein, William Gibson, Weis and Hickman... I've also read the classics: Salinger, Camus, Blake, Wilde, Lawrence, De Maupassant, Moliere, Voltaire, .... (you get the picture). I remember most of the books I've read.

I also like to read about the human condition, sexuality, and different ethical relationship models . I've also recently been delving into Gender and Sexual Diversity issues. The way we see ourselves and others is changing, and it's important to keep up.

I've recently developped a passion for physics, quantum theory, and hard science in general. I feel like my brain is growing, and I need to feed it with something new.

Movies: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Hong Kong Action, any movie that shows the triumph of the human spirit, comedy.

Music: I mostly listen to EBM and Industrial, bands like Cruxshadows, Combichrist, And One, and Apoptygma Bezerk. But I do run the gamut of 80's, Irish trad, and have been known to listen to Delerium, Tory Amos, Blackmore's Night, and even some Lady Gaga (if you tell anyone, I will cut you!)

Foods: Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Greek, Arabic, Scottish (Yes, I like haggis).
Six things I could never do without
Let's call this section things that make my life better: Muay Thai, my books, my cat, my internet connection, my smartphone.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, and how profoundly stupid and destructive humanity is as a whole.

Also, how Mars is now entirely populated by alien robots.
On a typical Friday night I am
...working. Being lowest on the totem pole means I get the sucky shifts. On my days off, I like to catch up on my reading, do an intense (2hrs+) workout at the gym, maybe do some patio or dancing, if I have someone to come with me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I sometimes do tai chi when alone in an elevator
