My self-summary
If there's sunshine outside, I want to be out doing something. If there isn't, I'm probably indoors in front of a computer, working. Or at least pretending to work.

I can be a bit of a workaholic, but I try to counter it with an active lifestyle. I'm constantly hungry for something (success, knowledge, skills, snacks) but the reward from so much busy time is the blissful down time in between. Everything in balance, right?
What I’m doing with my life
I started a software company, and we're slowly growing that. It's a fun place to be. Most days, it beats working for someone else. The boss is a real dick, though.

When I'm not working, I'm usually either cycling, swimming, playing guitar, going to concerts, watching a sport that I may or may not know anything about, or just hanging out in the sun with friends. I also make bad jokes, but you're probably already starting to realize that.
I’m really good at
I'm good with buttons. I can break almost anything. One time, I fixed something too, but it was just a sandwich.

So I guess I am also good at sandwiches.
The first things people usually notice about me
The toothpaste stain on my shirt.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
To be honest, I haven't given myself much time for leisure reading lately, and I think it might be dumbefying me (case in point: my spellchecker says that dumbefy isn't a word - I disagree).

But when I do make the time, I try to alternate between fiction and non-fiction. For fiction, I enjoy cyberpunk and other sci-fi stuff, almost anything that pays a fair homage to computers and hacking. As a kid, I loved fantasy novels. I'll also pick up a Dan Brown or Robert Ludlum if I'm on vacation and can't find anything else, but it's usually a last resort. Unless I see a Danielle Steele, of course.

As for non-fiction, it could really be anything. I'm currently reading a book on geopolitical forecasting and another one on genetic algorithms.

So I'm obviously reallllly exciting to be around... or... wait.

I'm a bit all over the map with music. Save for hard rap, pop country, and Nickelback, I'd touch almost anything. Electronica, hip-hop, indie, classic rock. I'm currently making a very weak effort to appreciate more classical and jazz music. Wish me luck.

So, food. I like putting it in my face, but I'm not all that great at making it. That said, I have a renewed sense of you-are-what-you-eat, so I'm trying to eat healthy lately. It turns out that even someone as culinarily-challenged as I can assemble a salad. Look at me now, mom.

Of course, there are still days when I'd push a baby into traffic for a good poutine. Don't judge.
Six things I could never do without
- Sun
- Internet (easy access to boundless information)
- Music
- Coffee
- Good headphones
- Friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- My job
- People I care about
- Other countries
- General daydreaming
- Why that dude's skinny jeans have to be SO skinny
On a typical Friday night I am
Having a couple after-work beers with friends, seeing a concert, going for a ride on the Goose (no, this is not a sex move), fighting crime.

I'll admit, there are a fair amount of Fridays where I just go home and work or cuddle up with a movie, but it's rarely Plan A.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes, when I'm in the bulk food section, I'll write the PLU number for the cheaper roasted almonds, even though I take the natural ones.

I know, I live on the edge. Ssssshhhh...

And if you're that lady from Fairway who always looks like she's catching me in the act, know this: I will categorically deny everything in this text box.
You should message me if
- you didn't make a wincing face while reading this
- you can abide someone who screams in their sleep (night terrors)
- you enjoy staring upwards at tall people (i trim my nose hair)
- you have a pulse

(note to self: stop filling these out when you've been drinking)
