I also enjoy cooking when I'm in the right mood. Actually, it usually puts me in the right mood once I start.
I am bright, curious, and authentic
No job has given me a big enough playground for all my interests, so I spend a fair amount of time learning and experimenting with things on my own. To this end, I started and organize a meetup group for an AI programming language.
I also travel internationally from time to time when specific reasons or opportunities arise. I want to go to South America, Ireland, China, and back to Australia and Europe. I love the language immersion and the new perspective on life that comes from traveling.
In November of 2011 I began my latest pursuit, learning to play the cello.
Also, I'm looking for a really great companion obviously :).
...being patient with people.
...picking up sports based on kinesthenetic sense and balance (mountain biking, climbing, riding boards of various kinds(snowboarding, surfing, sandboarding, rowing).
...getting interested in new things just long enough to understand and daydream about them, but happily leaving the actual implementation to others.
...holding my breath for a long time. I can make it all the way through Eisenhower tunnel when traffic is normal.
I look younger than I am. I like exercise, sleep, eating healthy, and green tea. So it's either that or good genes.
I also have clean, well maintained dreadlocks (but I'm not a pothead, I just like the way they look)
V for Vendetta
Catch Me If You can
Wag the Dog
Most movies based on comic books or some dystopian universe
Requiem for a Dream is the best movie I never want to see again.
Lately I've come to appreciate hearing local musicians play in smaller venues, such as WadiRum and Gasoline Lollipops. Some of the bigger names I like are:
Florence + The Machine
Imogen Heap/Frou Frou
Way Out West
Rabbit in the Moon
BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix
Gregory Alan Isakov
Movie soundtracks: You probably have no idea how triumphant it feel when writing code to Pirates of the Caribbean.
I also spend a lot of my time in the car listening to NPR.
The Tao of Pooh
The Bourne Identity
Catch Me If You Can
Often vegetarian at home, with the exception of grilling fish.
A way to learn about whatever I'm curious about at the moment (internet, bookstore, or library)
exercise outside in the sun
good coffee, beer, and wine
I think about the patterns in life and how it all works
the meaning of words
what makes people thrive
Recently: What is simultaneously good for individuals and the welfare of humanity: Things like walking/biking instead of driving, socializing for entertainment instead of shopping. I think a lot of unsustainable things are like drug abuse -- people (myself included) are drawn toward them but they don't really make us better. Psychology apparently says the best way to help people with a drug problem is to first fill the hole they are self-medicating or else they'll never be willing or able to give up the drug. Seems like a good model for sustainability.
The effects of having attention grabbing labels, on say modern book jackets or food containers, in plain view in one's home, which should be a place of sanctuary.
...relaxing at home.
...hanging out with friends.
...getting ready for an outing of some kind on Saturday.
