My self-summary
I make meaning and find balance in a world without guard rails. We can do whatever we want; we must do whatever we want.

I chase truth up the tree of grammar. I am liberal, GGG, and polite.
What I’m doing with my life
I engineer distributed systems and write accounts of how they work. I am a better writer than engineer.

I work for a software company which maintains a utility. I wish it had positive moral valence, but I think the best thing that can be said about it is that we keep a public bad minimally bad. We have long conversations about the effects of our field on society, and of our work in particular. It's part of what keeps me excited about contributing.

In my free time, I play ultimate, volunteer, lift, run long distances, mountaineer, work on the occasional personal project, and indulge in the occasional run on sentence.
I’m really good at
I have a great sense of self-efficacy. I am problem oriented.

I try to be a good listener. I think I'm an easy conversationalist, but I haven't polled my partners.

I am honest with my feelings, but it takes me a little bit to get comfortable.

I like games, the playful kind, not the maybe-I'll-text-you-back-one-day kind. I don't play that second kind of game.

I'm an enthusiastic lover.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm goofy. I'm smart. I'm very warm.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Nicki Minaj, Kanye, Johnny Cash, d'angelo, Alice Russell, team backpack.

William Gibson, Neil Gaiman, Thomas Pynchon.

Lately I've been reading Jack Black (the old one) and Jane McGonigal

Sartre, Nietzsche.

Bojack Horseman, archer, what we do in the shadows.

I think it'd be fun to get together and watch horror movies, even though I'm a huge chicken and will probably get too scared to keep watching.
The six things I could never do without
Learning.
Music.
Deep, old friendships.
Mathematics.
A good book.
Exercise.
Honesty.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to meet people. My existing friendships. What to put in my empty new apartment. Whatever book I'm reading. Work.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going to bed early. Saturday mornings are for getting outside.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm tired of being single. I want to make it work.
