My self-summary
Hellloooooooo Okcupiders!

Grab a beverage (it's okay, I will wait until you find one), sit back, and learn all there is to know (well not all, but hopefully enough knowledge to know if you want to talk to this guy or not. I sure hope you do, because I think you are pretty cool for clicking on my profile to begin with) about this echolden guy.

I moved to Seattle from NYC over a decade ago and am still enjoying myself in Seattle. I grew up in a small town in Northwest Ohio and got the hell out of dodge (i mean Ohio) as soon as I could. I love to watch movies, go on long walks to explore the city (Urban Hiking is the best!), eating at interesting places, finding a quiet place to read, getting lost and finding my way back home (I get lost a lot, but never the same way twice), trying to remain still while watching the skyline (and listening to the rain at 4am), and finding a place to have a drink where I don't have to shout (i miss my old dive bars, it seems they all have become sports bars with a ton of LCD monitors...alas).

echolden fun facts:

I have been called quick witted, charming, kind, and a bunch of expletives that I am sure that were meant as a compliment.

I have a problem saying the following words:
- Salad and Solid
- Single and Signal

I am a sucker for a clever cat photo meme (hell sometimes a not so clever one).

At one point I was a World Records Holder (along with 5,785 other people) for worlds largest snowball fight. It was mostly ice, but still amazing to be in the middle of.

My philosophy on how to live life is taken from the main rule in improv comedy: "Yes, and..."

I will admit my mistakes which will haunt me until...

...I replay my entire day in my mind before going to bed every evening. This is a very humbling practice, sometimes one does not realize one is being an asshole until much later in the day.

I am positive that human evolution peaked when we started putting ice cubes in our drinks to water them down or cool them.

I have a gym membership, but often opt to go on crazy long walks throughout this city with a backpack full of books instead, bonus points if I find a place to stop and read from one.

I am loyal, probably too loyal.

I forgive easily, probably too easily.

I care, probably too much in this evil world.

I try not to censor myself, at least in written word, and let it all flow free.
What I’m doing with my life
I work with technology and am studying UX design in hopes to be on the other side of the helpdesk ticket some day soon.

I have come to terms with my non jetpack having society. A majority of Americans can't ride a bike without being an asshole, I would hate to see what assholery would happen with jetpacks! I will gladly exchange my dream for a jetpack with universal health care and free college education for all.
I’m really good at
Solving problems. I am like a one man A-Team, minus the gold chains and the cigars. I do love it when a plan comes together though (I may pick up gold chains, if the plan is amazing enough). I will, however, never pity a fool. A fool deserves what they get.
The first things people usually notice about me
i am not sure.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Stranger in a Strange Land, The Master and Margarita, The Sirens of Titan (can't believe I forgot to put that in here the first time), The Outlaws Guide to Literature, Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, Junky, The Rum Diary, The Grapes of Wrath, Mr. Nice. and Ready Player One (not for it's literary genius, but it filled a big void in my pop culture hole).

Currently reading: The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O

Podcasts: Harmontown, WTF, and insert random comedy podcast that I will follow for about two weeks and then let the abandoned podcasts fill up my phone.

TV: Better Call Saul, Rick and Morty, Game of Thrones, and Fargo. As I get older, the tv stops being as interesting as it was back in the day, but I love a good story, and it is a great time for long form story telling over multiple years.

Hobbies: 3D Modeling (for Work and Play), puppetry, creating weird things in Virtual Realty, and researching how to make my crazy ideas in the real reality.

Movies: Birdman, The Abyss, They Live, The Muppet Movie, Pitch Black, A Face in the Crowd, The Man Who Would be King, and Singing in the Rain. <--- is my short list, I pretty much love most movies, the last movie that I hated was Funny Games (It made me so mad, that I reported the disc lost from netflix, paid the penalty fee, and then took the disk outside and smashed it on the street).

Music: MGMT, The Rolling Stones, Ween, Brian Eno, Gang Gang Dance, The Velvet Underground, St. Vincent, CHVRCHES, The Wu Tang Clan, Chilly Gonzales...I like it all (well almost all of it, crap is crap no mater how you package it).

Food: I love pretty much all food. I would rather have three tasty smaller dishes than one heaping portion of another dish, unless that dish is nachos, then I will probably eat the whole thing while preparing the pepto.

To sum it up all up: I like pretty much everything, or at least will give it a chance...even if I hate it...even if I hated it after giving it a chance last year...or the year before that...even if it still owes me five bucks, or said something mean about my mother.
Six things I could never do without
so many things that I have had on the list that I could easily live without if I were a braver man, after revisiting this list here is the closest cuts:
1. An electronic device to absorb my rage and feed my curiosity.
2 and 3. My cat is not a thing, but I would consider his companionship and cuteness 2 things that I really enjoy.
4. A freezer which makes the ice in which chills my drinks which makes life that much more worth living.
5. A notebook and pen (listing as one thing since they are the most useful to me as a pair).
6. Caffeine, if I were without it and you told me I could get a caffeine buzz off of sucking rocks, I would probably do it (just in case).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I could invent that would make me millions, and then googling the idea and cursing the person who beat me to it.

How to make puppets come alive in front of a camera. or Why are there so many songs about rainbows?

What my cat does at night while I sleep.

What will be the breaking point to end the Trump presidency?

Will my computer crash during it's 70 hour render while I am at work?

Did I forget to lock the front door?
On a typical Friday night I am
On a typical Friday night, you can usually find me unwinding at home. Sometimes that is with an ice cold beer and some netflix, other times it could be playing a game with some friends. My nights of partying all Friday night are kinda over, unless you rekindle that social fire and awaken my primal "WOOOOOOO!"
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am a mere mortal man and can not leap over tall buildings; but that hasn't stopped me from trying, or will keep me from trying again when the moment feels right.

I may let you down, it probably wasn't intentional (people tend to believe in me more than I do in myself).

I replay my whole day in my head before going to bed. It is amazing how much empathy one gains by seeing how much of an asshole they were that day without realizing it.

I also do not own a car, or plan on owning a car any time soon. I will however rent a car if needed; but I love the challenge of mass transit, and the peace a decent walk brings.
You should message me if
You would like to start a conversation, meet face to face, or both of those things. I am sorry if I fail to respond (I am after all human and prone to failures).
