My self-summary
I am a Canadian who recently arrived in Florida (after 10+ years working in Europe) to care for a sick parent. Update – the parent passed away :(. Honestly so far, for me, the jury is out on Florida... It seems very hard to meet good people

I have traveled to more than 100 countries and still love it, but of course it's much more fun with your partner than alone.

My career was my focus for over 20 years, but now I'm much more interested in health, family, and finding love.

I believe in life it's more important WHO than WHAT. I choose my friends carefully, and most of them have been friends for a long time.

In my free time I love live music, ethnic food, good films, travel, being on the water, hiking and staying active and just generally trying new things.

I'm a dog man and an ENTP.
I beg you – don't ask for my zodiac sign...

Also, I'm 48. All photos very recent.
What I’m doing with my life
I am financially very comfortable and have achieved what I wanted to achieve career-wise.

I think for me my priorities are about finding a real partner/ soul-mate and setting the foundation for happiness in the later part of my life.

I enjoy Live music, ethnic food, working out, hiking/outdoor trips, skiing, water sports, mini-vacations... I would love to find someone who wanted to share this life with me... working out, going out, chilling out, giving back, seeing new things, getting to know each other.
I’m really good at
I'm good at pretty much all water sports, and generally love games (balderdash is the best!, but cards, chess, connect-four, risk, and all the others still make me smile).

My humor is dry and cutting. Dumb people look confused, but most people usually find me quite funny.
The first things people usually notice about me
That weird Canadian accent??
Hazel eyes?
A very large comfort zone? (Willing to go first in Karaoke! and my rendition of No Doubt's Don't Speak is not for the faint of heart...)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I LOVE movies, and some might see me as a "movie slut" since I will go watch almost anything :) short of horror films (though, World War Z was pretty good...). I enjoy a good summer blockbuster (new Star Trek film was amazing!), but also a lot of foreign films (Cinema Paradiso, and Priceless are favorites), even animated (How to Train Your Dragon was great!), and I like most documentaries (Waiting for Superman was amazing).

I'm not that big on TV... I enjoy some shows (Good Wife, Boss, Breaking Bad, Homeland, Game of Thrones, etc) but I won't just sit and channel surf for hours.

I like to read, especially before bed and I am pretty eclectic in my reading tastes - from autobiography (Steve Jobs) to non-fiction (Wild) to Fantasy (Game of Thrones) to Policy (The Benefit and the Burden) to fiction (Jack Reacher). If you have not read Shantaram, I HIGHLY recommend it.
Six things I could never do without
I'm not a super-materialistic person, and I'm hard to buy a gift for because I already have almost all the things I wanted.

My answer here could never be "coffee" or "My IPhone"... it's more like friends, vacations, and some time in nature every few months (I like to hike, camp canoe, etc).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm a planner... probably I'm thinking about the plan for the weekend, or the next vacation ;)
On a typical Friday night I am
Boca seems to be oriented to movies and restaurants, but I do love comedy, like live music, and every few months feel a strong desire to go dancing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I really like NPR :)

and... I have a thing for pony tails and glasses... basically, when most girls think they look their worst, I'm usually smitten :)
You should message me if
If you think at all "maybe", I would go for it. At least lunch! Maybe that's because I'm more of an extrovert and I don't see a big advantage to staying home alone too much.

And you never know, if not me, maybe my friend, or the guy you bump into as you leave the restaurant where you meet me... life favors those who are somewhat bold and open to possibly )

For those far from my zip code, my life is NOT rooted to South Florida. I came here to care for my ailing parent... but that is over ... for a promising relationship I would come to any part of USA.
