My self-summary
I'm a fairly successful IT professional in Boston, but that doesn't define me. When I'm not slinging bits and bytes, I'm looking for adventure and exploration, and importantly, someone to do those things with. Lately, since I'm single, I've been spending most of my free time this summer working on my house, rebuilding my back porch and sunroom.

When I am with someone, I enjoy nothing more than cuddling (besides the whole adventure part, of course). I'm sensitive to other people's feelings, not into sports, and hardly drink... which I mention because I feel those are important traits, though I hate to think that I might be labeled with the dreaded "nice guy" title because of them.
What I’m doing with my life
I just bought a house, so a lot of my free time is spent working on renovating that.

For work, I am a system administrator. For the layman, that means I am a professional computer geek, which is a good thing. I am fairly comfortable where I am on a professional level at the moment, so most of my self-improvement is in the personal area.

When I was a kid, I was big into art. I am just now rediscovering that. I have picked up the paint brush again, and I work on the occasional "project". Check my Halloween photo to see the Death Ray I made.

I am also always looking for some adventurous things to do with a close friend or date. For example, a few years ago I bought my first DSLR, then went up to Rockport to see The Paper House, and ended up finding an old abandoned factory, which was great for photos. A couple summers in a row I spent three days hiking in the Green Mountains, looking for hidden treasure, as part of an "Adventure Challenge" game. Last year I bought a telescope, so I could try some astrophotography, but also as an excuse to drive out to the middle of nowhere and find places to star-gaze.
I’m really good at
I am really good at understanding people, their words and their emotions.

Naturally I am good at computers and technology in general. Some people say I am a good painter, but that is in the eye of the beholder.
The first things people usually notice about me
People usually notice pretty quickly that I wear my heart on my sleeve. I don't hide my opinions about things, so people say I tend to complain a lot. Despite that, I am far from a negative person. People have often told me that I'm funny.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite genre would be Urban Fantasy, which would include writers like Neil Gaimen and Charles De Lint.
I also read non-fiction books from science writers like Brian Greene.

Fantasy and sci-fi is where it is at for me, with a healthy dosage of comedy and horror.
Just a few of my favorites, off the top of my head:
Galaxy Quest
Pan's Labyrinth
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Bridge to Terabithia
The Crow
Army of Darkness
The Incredibles

Anything by Joss Whedon. Seriously. That man is a God. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse.
The usual suspects like The Daily Show, Southpark, Family Guy, Futurama
New Scifi like Doctor Who, Warehouse 13, Sherlock
BBC shows like The IT Crowd
Orphan Black, of course
Older shows like Seinfeld
And everyone's new favorite Stranger Things

For music, my tastes are pretty broad. I usually let Pandora do its thing, so I can't write out a pretentious list of indie bands like most people here seem to. Pretty much I like everything except for rap, hip-hop, and country. But to be more specific, I most enjoy listening to classic and hard rock, and occasionally I switch to some jazz.
The six things I could never do without
A vehicle (Or I should say multiple vehicles. I have a car I hardly use, a scooter I never use anymore, and a bike which I commute to work with)
Roof over my head
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The nature of the universe, string theory, quantum physics, the brain, the mind, and how to understand the very fabric of reality. You know, simple things like that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends getting food and/or seeing a movie. Perhaps at home with friends playing games. Then occasionally I am sitting at home watching TV or reading alone. Those are the nights I'd like to change. The rest of the weekend is for more adventurous activities that take a better part of the day.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Not really private, but an interesting factoid. I've been tracing my ancestry, and apparently Queen Elizabeth I, of England, was my 2nd cousin (17x removed, meaning 17 generations ago). I'll probably talk a lot about the interesting figures in my ancestral line (an amazing amount of British nobility. It's crazy!) But feel free to tell me to shut up about it.
You should message me if
You should message me if you are looking for adventure and exploration with someone who is intelligent and curious about the world.
Also, if you actually have the time for someone new in your life.
