My self-summary
Hello there. How are you? I'm doing well, can't complain.

I'm trying not to take myself too seriously with this since, let's be honest, there are far more important things in world. But I'm also trying to meet nice interesting people, build relationships, and see where life takes us. To be honest, I do tend to stay in my comfort zone, socially, for better or worse, and this is an easy way for me to try and break out of it.

I'm a total INFJ, emphasis on I, but I also love people. I'm a nurse and couldn't do my job if I didn't love people like crazy.

And some little nuts 'n' bolts...Likes: sci-fi/fantasy lit/TV/movies, word puzzles/trivia, driving stick (a problem since I don't have a car), stoop-sittin' and beer-drinkin' (in tandem), sarcasm, breakfast for dinner, yoga. Dislikes: mayonnaise, traditional overhead lighting, a mess, cold showers, the color pink, and country music.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm doing what I love, which is nursing, currently trauma nursing. If you get shot, hit by a car, or lit on fire I'll probably see you at some point. I haven't quite figured out how to balance the awkward hours and utter exhaustion of working 13-14 hours straight without even managing take a bathroom break with having a life outside of work that doesn't involve sleeping and Netflix. But you better believe I've got some stories.
I’m really good at
Deflecting and self-deprecation.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm quiet and you probably had no idea I was there until you turned around and BAM! Also, glasses. And probably a hat. Maybe I'm a secret agent?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I gravitate towards sci-fi and fantasy with a healthy dose of dry humor. A compelling female protagonist is always appealing. And I do retain some of my English major BritLit tendencies. Random things that I'm currently reading or have enjoyed in the past: Discworld stuff, Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkisigan books, Neal Stephenson's stuff, The Expanse series, Old Man's War series

TV: Star Trek always and forever, AtLA/LoK, Steven Universe, other cartoons that are ostensibly for kids but also for adults, Hill Street Blues, West Wing, just about anything that's on PBS at any given time, The Wire, nostalgia shows from childhood, random British comedies and/or detective shows, Broad City. I'm always excited when SyFy premieres an ambitious new high-concept show.

Music: continually in flux, but... The Antlers, Rachael Yamagata, Pink Martini, Arcade Fire, Neko Case, Scissor Sisters, Brandi Carlile, Goldfrapp, Fleetwood Mac, and The Civil Wars are a fair sample. Showtunes and classical are always fair game.

Podcasts: I'm a podcast-binger: Stuff You Should Know, Stuff You Missed in History Class, You Must Remember This, Lore, The West Wing Weekly, NPR shows I miss because I'm at work
The six things I could never do without
My alone time, kindred spirits, cats, my watch, audiobooks, fan fiction. In descending order of profundity.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Board games that I want to learn how to play, auditioning for Jeopardy!, being a nurse, how I can be a little less neurotic, Reiki
On a typical Friday night I am
Working, sleeping because I'm recovering from work, or sleeping in preparation for working the next day. Barring that, out for drinks with friends, sitting on my front porch enjoying the weather, going to a concert...typical 30-something stuff.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
This page of word-vomit is more than enough for this particular forum.
You should message me if
You like discussions about any of the following: bioethics, weird/gross things the human body is capable of, Canada, podcasts, concert venues, cider vs. beer, The Canon, why food is amazing, The Great British Baking Show.

You want to. I'm shy and probably won't do it myself.
