My self-summary
I'm an accepting, happy individual who's very happy being single but yearns for meaningful companionship.
A single father of 2 teenage boys, I'm very laid back and rather ordinary. I know, I should say what's good about me, but I can tell you, I'm not much more or much less interesting than the next guy. What I do know is that I enjoy life, I am gainfully employed, like to provide a good example for my boys and live by the golden rule. I have interests and particular tastes but nothing that makes me remarkable (or unremarkable); I like to hike, to sing, I like watching movies, care a bit about sports (but nothing binding); I like to spend time with my boys, I enjoy my time alone and I pretty much like to find someone laid back that would enjoy a quiet evening with an interesting conversation, listening to live music, a movie date or a night out to a small restaurant with good food, but someone with interests of her own as well. I am not in my best shape, but I'm not that far gone either. I like to expand my mind and my inquiries will change with whatever piques my interest. Above all I am a skeptic that dislikes to settle for the "that's the way it's always been" mentality and prefers to go to the bottom of things. If you made it this far, maybe you'd be interested in meeting your typical "unique" fellow. You might not regret it.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in the process of adapting to a semi empty-nest situation which I want to use to work on my health, my fitness and my (for lack of a better word) spirituality.
I’m really good at
Taking everything in stride. I always have the right perspective and a positive attitude.
I'm also good at making my kids laugh; I'm a quick learner; and I'm good at being humble about my (perceived) abilities.
The first things people usually notice about me
How serious I seem to be. That goes away as soon as we start talking.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse, War of the Worlds,The Republic by Plato, The god delusion, One hundred years of solitude and most of the classics. I enjoy reading Dave Barry and periodicals. I will always be reading at least 2 books. I don't much care for fiction, unless it's a classic.
Movies: Avatar, Kick Ass, Godfather I & II, Shawshank redemption, The fugitive, Star wars saga, Blazing Saddles, The fifth element, The sixth sense, The matrix, Falling down and many more.
Shows: Comedies and anything scientifically themed show either by discovery channel, nat geo or history channel or whatever seems interesting from netflix. I don't watch much regular TV and avoid most reality stuff, except for sports. But I'm not beholden to watch anything and will abandon it on the spot if some activity comes up.
Music: classic rock & mexican 80's pop
Food: Chinese, Mexican, some Italian, Vietnamese Pho, food truck fare and whatever I cook at home.
Six things I could never do without
Water, laughter, music, good food, something to read, solitude.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
*Ways for a happy (near and long term) future and how to use improve myself. Minimalism has struck a chord and I'm trying to follow that tune.
*How I can positively contribute to the betterment of the world.
*What was the name of that author/character/song/philosopher I was trying to quote?
On a typical Friday night I am
Getting ready to go to work. Doing the graveyard thing. (Not too enticing, is it?)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I admit nothing. Because there's really nothing worth keeping a secret in my life.
You should message me if
You're happy with who you are and don't think that (any) material thing(s) are the most important part of your life. Also, if you are comfortable with the concept that we should all do good unto others because is the right thing to do and that we should seek happiness in simple things i.e. actions, not objects.
