I've lived in Texas my whole life, but I like to travel. I love to snowboard and make sure to hit the slopes at least once or twice a season.
I like college football (Hook 'em!) but apart from that, I'd rather be playing sports than watching them. I like running, and I play Ultimate Frisbee with friends or with Dallas Ultimate Association. Really, if the weather is nice, I prefer to be out of the house rather than in it, and since my job requires me to be at a desk all day, I try to spend a couple of Saturdays a month volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
I also have the most awesome dog in the world (you may think yours is better, but no, mine is). She's a mutt and she only has one emotion - happy - so she suits me very well. It's probably because she's not smart enough to have any other emotions, but she gets along great with people and dogs so she's an excellent companion!
I feel like I'm a pretty laid back guy. My job is fairly demanding and hectic, and I really thrive in that environment, but I try to leave as much of that as possible at the office. So when I can, I prefer low-stress, fairly casual affairs - I prefer bars to clubs, and good music and good conversation to movies or television, though I can appreciate these last two from time to time.
I'm also thinking about getting involved in community theater around the area - I was in a few plays in high school and college, but I haven't done anything in a couple of years and I'm starting to miss it.
Oh and board games - love 'em. Lots of fun, good way to spend time with friends, and I'm always on the lookout for new ones.
Also, I spend a lot of time at the dog park or out at the playing whatever games I can get my hands on (well, either board games or sports). I like meeting people, getting to know them, and basically figuring out a way to have a good time.
I feel like I empathize well with other people - which is certainly not to say that I'm perfect, but I really do try to go out of my way to understand where people are coming from.
Books - Ender's Game, Harry Potter, Hunger Games American/world history books and biographies, books on physics and astronomy (at least, the ones that are understandable to a novice)
Movies - Star Wars, Top Gun, Ferris Bueller, 12 Angry Men, 10 Things I Hate About You, Empire Records, Little Miss Sunshine, Contact, Snatch, Donnie Darko, A Knight's Tail, Wall-E, Up, The Big Lebowski.... I'm all over the board. I like just about everything, if I can be convinced to sit still and watch. Only thing I don't care for is mindless action films. Die Hard = great! Olympus Has Fallen = I'd rather be shot instead.
TV - I am a great re-watcher of shows I like so a lot of these are somewhat old. Scrubs, Archer, Futurama, Ugly Americans, The Daily Show, How It's Made, Walking Dead, Cosmos, South Park, Modern Marvels, Dexter, Veronica Mars, The West Wing
Music - I could be hear listing bands forever. In brief, mostly rock, especially classic rock (Hendrix, Beatles, Stones), with a lot of 90's alternative and modern indie rock as well. My favorite band is Anberlin, and if you know who they are - bonus points. Also some rap, 60's era rhythm-and-blues along with some Motown, a very limited selection of country (read: Johnny Cash and Kenny Chesney), a smattering of techno, probably some other things as well.
Food - Just about everything, except fish - I particularly like spicy food, notably Thai
