My self-summary
This is a toughy, but I feel like the subsequent questions do a pretty good job at answering this one --- so I'll just make a list of qualities I appreciate and look for: patience, compassion, confidence, quirkiness, a love for animals, a fondness for the absurd, an open mind, humility, a quick wit, a sense of humor that I can identify with, an appreciation for the arts, reverence for nature, progressive politics, and a pretty face.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a vet student in my last/clinical year....phew. Now to figure out what the next step is. Thinking about trying to get an internship in San Diego (I've always been drawn to Southern California but my recent obsession with the Foster's has sealed the deal.)

Otherwise, doing my best to appreciate all the goodness and beauty in the world and hopefully playing a small part in mitigating its ugliness.
I’m really good at
handling delicate situations, charming the elderly, handling dogs, recognizing a phony, procrastinating...
The first things people usually notice about me
I dunno, different people notice different things.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: The National, David Bowie, Aimee Mann, Talking Heads, Neil Young, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, Aretha Franklin,The Beatles, Belle and Sebastian, Camera Obscura, MGMT, The XX, Pomplamoose, Jenny Lewis, She and Him (admittedly, mostly for Zooey), Adele, Arcade Fire, Phoenix, REM, Wilco, David Gray, most popular 60s, 70s soul and motown (and Led Zeppelin), cheesy 80s and 90s (the cheesy 00s isn't old enough to spark my nostalgia neurons yet).

Books and Movies: I have this weird thing where I really can't recall much of anything about books/movies beyond the general plot within about a week of reading/watching. This annoying phenomenon is largely independent of how much I enjoyed it. So, don't count on me to rehash and analyze movies we both love (or atleast I seem to recall having loved). Having said that I really enjoyed The Red Tent, Flesh and Blood, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Goonies, Being John Malkovich, Royal Tenenbaums, Transamerica, American Beauty, Requiem for a Dream, to name a very select few.

Food: Luckily I do not have food amnesia so it is easy for me to remember what I like. However, I don't feel like naming foods I like right now. These lists are taking a lot out of me. I consider myself to be a decent cook. I've recently discovered the wonder that are smoothies....I know I'm a little late. I eat a lot of vegetarian-y food, but also eat a little a lot of chicken. I try to stay away from red meat...although tonight I had a steak wrapped in bacon...oh well. I try to be conscious of where my food comes from. I enjoy most "ethnic" foods...Italian is probably the type I like the least. It just all seems like the same 5 ingredients put together in slightly ways. No offense Italians...I do still enjoy it.
The six things I could never do without
my sanity
the internet
a companion (animal or human)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Besides veterinary medicine and work...just a random mix of stimuli that crosses my path: the subject of a recently seen documentary, the situation of the Philly school system, the plight of pitbulls and shelter animals in general, where my career will take me, projects for the summer, how to be more present.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hopefully enjoying some downtime after a long week...usually at home with a few beers, netflix, plus or minus an amigo or two.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't wink my right eye
You should message me if
you feel so inclined.
