My self-summary
First of all, I should point out that I am actually in Greenville, but want to widen my options and am willing to travel regionally. I gratefully accept who I am and what makes me happy, but I feel that I am missing a companion. I love dogs and enjoy all animals, I really enjoy hanging out with kids although I don't have my own. I am a strong, athletic gal and being active is an important part of my week - I primarily spend my active time at the gym or outside hiking, kayaking, and cycling.

I derive pleasure from simple things, like listening to a stirring musical piece, kayaking through a beautiful body of water, laughing at a great pun, and bestowing love and patience on those close to me. My ideal match would be a professional who loves to travel, prefers spending the evening talking with friends or reading than watching television, would rather expend money on experiences rather than material goods, is not afraid of intellectual challenges, and holds honesty above all else.

I look forward to exploring the delightful traits and characteristics of a potential partner in crime. It's hard to get a sense of each other from a profile, so feel free to drop me a line.
What I’m doing with my life
I am doing what I love and feel damn lucky to be doing it. I try to juggle my favorite activities, often feeling guilt that I am neglecting one for another. I try to live in the present and not worry too much about the future, although that is harder than it should be. I have developed a good group of friends here in Greenville and am looking looking to add to that with the possibility of something more intimate.
I’m really good at
Worrying about those in need, making people laugh, not being boring, making a fool of myself, caring about those close to me, editing articles, and statistics. I'm a good driver and have always wanted to compete in a road rally (like Dakar-Paris!).
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes when I laugh. And that I sometimes make inappropriate remarks.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot and have many favorite books. I regularly read our little local newspaper, the Sunday NY Times, the Economist, and various news websites. I don't watch television but do enjoy movies a great deal, and watching some cable series via Netflix. It is hard to narrow down my top choices.

I love all music except for country, death metal, and offensive rap. I play an instrument - poorly - but like playing classical and traditional folk pieces.

I prefer cooking to going out mainly because so many places in Greenville are disappointing in terms of flavor and ingredients. I will splurge occasionally on restaurants that are up to the task :) Dinner with friends can be a long drawn-out riotous event, starting with an aperitif, moving on to food and wine, and ending with scotch or a digestif. I don't like fast food and generally don't enjoy chain restaurants.
Six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
dead people. work. Boring, I know... I have the kind of work that, while my hours are flexible, cannot be left at the office. That doesn't necessarily mean that i am "working", just that the search for methods that can answer certain questions continues in my mind. Until that second glass of wine. Then I think about sex. Just kidding. ;) Or maybe not...
On a typical Friday night I am
There's no typical Friday night - I may be cooking dinner with a friend, going to a party, attending a concert, watching a movie, sitting in the dark, who knows?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I would say if it's private, then I won't post it here - but that doesn't address the request... if I have poison ivy, blowing hot air from a blow dryer on that spot is so pleasurable that it feels like....
You should message me if
you can craft a response beyond a one sentence - or worse yet, one word - line. I will only respond if you put some effort into crafting a thoughtful email. I'm too much of a curmudgeon for txt spk.
