My self-summary
I like science, travel, movies, music, art, outdoor adventures, good food and a good beer to wash it down with, dance parties, and random philosophical conversations.
Honesty is very important to me - lying is just stupid and causes nothing but problems. I am fairly laid back and thoroughly dislike drama. I would say that I am the opposite of a high maintenance and materialistic mentality.
I just moved to Gainesville from out West, so I haven't met many people nor explored much of the area. Basically, I'm up for some adventures with some fun company!
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently a research technician at a lab at UF, but I have been accepted to the PhD program in the Plant Pathology department, starting in the fall. I just finished my Master's, so I'm enjoying some time off from school for now!
I’m really good at
Being awkward and nerdy. And being the only one dancing at a concert.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, Tori Amos, Sleater Kinney, Bjork, Alicia Keys, Bonnie Raitt, Glass Animals, Son Lux, Muse, ODESZA, Phantogram, MGMT, the 80s... basically a little bit of everything (except country - not a big fan of the country music)

Books: Stephen King, Harry Potter, John Steinbeck, fiction in general

Shows: The Walking Dead, Chopped, Kitchen Nightmares, David Attenborough-narrated nature shows, Through the Worm Hole with Morgan Freeman, Seinfeld (yes, it's still funny)

Food: Everything except red meat and weird animal parts like tongue or feet (which I could conceivably be convinced to try if it were cooked properly and prepared in a tasty manner).

Movies: The Big Lebowski, Fargo, Lord of the Rings, Les Miserables, The Goonies, Indiana Jones, Die Hard series, The Departed, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Shaun of the Dead - pretty much anything except brainless romantic comedies and excessively graphic horror movies.
Six things I could never do without
Never is a strong word...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Phylogenetics, fungi, symbiosis
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends, sometimes hanging out at home quietly, sometimes getting a little crazy at a dance party... you never know what might come your way!
You should message me if
You don't mind being silly and/or dorky, eating food and drinking beer and generally hanging out and having fun.
