My self-summary
I accidentally figured out the meaning of life a few years ago (it's not 42, but that is surprising close), and have had some difficultly deciding what to do with mine since. I'm a work in progress, but I'm happy with where and who I am, and most days that's enough.

Damn, haven't updated this in way too long. No longer on the coast, and no longer single. Found my partner, but we're open to the right playmate. Not actively searching, just open. Also happy to make new Quebecois friends. Aussi, je viens d'un cours de français, donc, je peux parler français. Un petit peu.

Je pense que je serai ici seulement s'il y a une message qui a besoin d'un reponse, mais bonne chance avec votre chercher. I suspect I'll only by checking in is there is a message to respond to, so good luck with your search. I hope that you find the Mr. Right or Mr. Right Now that you're looking for. I'm not quite good enough with french to translate that last line.

"Your ideal mate is gentle and horny, just like you". My personality test is spot on.

I am relaxed, reflective, and generally amused.
What I’m doing with my life
I've got a geek job/career that I enjoy. I get to play in a lab all day, and for the immediate future I'm content with that. My current contract expires in four years, and I'll re-evaluate then.
I’m really good at
Looking for answers, and questions. Minesweeper.
The first things people usually notice about me
Not sure anymore. Possibly that I'm hard to read. Might be the beard.

Also, I just realized that none of my photo's show my glasses. I wear my contacts when I'm going to be (pedal) biking, so mostly during the day. I usually take them out and wear my glasses when I'm relaxing or going out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A few greats, in no particular order;
A) Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Douglas Adams collected works, Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening, The Potter series, Tom Robbins collected works, Transmetropolitan. Discovered and read most of Terry Pratchets' work in the last year.

B)Serenity, Dogma (I miss George Carlin), Usual Suspects, Stranger Than Fiction, Army of Darkness, Suicide Kings, Love Actually, Gross Point Blank, The Frighteners, I (heart) Huckabees, Leon; The Professional, The Long Kiss Goodnight (not as good as the others, but Samuel L. was in top form)

C)The Trews, The White Stripes, Bob Seger, AudioSlave/Temple of the Dog, Big Sugar, Beatles, Niel Young, Clapton, Zepplin, Thornley, Hawksley Workman... The list goes on and on. Classical, anything with strong guitar or orchestra.

D)Yeah, I love food. Any and all. It doesn't matter if I can't pronounce it or even identify it; if it's on a plate in front of me, I'll try it.
Six things I could never do without
music, motion, beauty, intuition, conflict, and desire
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The nature of reality. The effect that rhetoric has on the world and our perception of it.

Lately: the dream cast for a gender reversed version of "Fight Club". Johnny Depp is a shoe in for Marla, and Natalie Portman could probably pull off Jack, but who would play Tyler? Maybe Angela Bassett...? Kathy Bates would be a good Robert Paulson.
On a typical Friday night I am
Yup. On a typical friday night, I am. Same goes for most other parts of the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I know most/all of the lyrics to "Once More With Feeling". The Buffy musical episode.
Yeah. That only gets funnier when you find out who I work for.
If it's playing I will sing along, and all will suffer.
You should message me if
You love life and are amused by it on a daily basis...

Your internal monologue even remotely resembles Garfunkel and Oates....

You should definately message me if you know where to find a quiet balcony and a good pitcher of Sangria.
