My self-summary
I recently moved to California. I'm hoping to meet friends and maybe date a bit. I have a long-distance boyfriend. We're not exclusive. I'm not looking for anything serious though.

I'm a handful. I love to spin fire (poi or fire dancing, whichever you know it by), even though I don't practice nearly enough. I love yoga. Both my thumbs are double jointed. I dance in my seat when I eat; I do so without realizing. I love wearing pretty dresses, but I'm usually wearing jeans and a tank top.

I would love getting to know you.
What I’m doing with my life
I now have my massage license. I love it. It's great being able to help people, even if it's just one less achy muscle. And no, I don't give "happy endings" to my clients, sorry. :P

I'm still exploring my options. I know I'm not going to be doing massage therapy forever. I might even end up using my art degree to... I don't know... Actually create some sell-able art. :P

I guess I need to mention that I'm growing my hair out. I didn't think that was something I needed to mention on here, but a lot of you guys seem so disappointed by my lack of fauxhawk pics. I'll put one of those up for old times sake. While I'm still "the girl with the awesome fauxhawk" on the inside, I just need a change. :)
I’m really good at
Laughing at myself. I love finding the humor in everything. I can be serious about a lot of things, but I would rather laugh it off.

Portraiture. I don't practice as much as I should, but I usually like the results anyway.

Listening. At least, I like to think I'm good at it. In any case, I really love listening to people talk. Especially when they're obviously passionate about what they are saying.

Other than that, you'll just have to get to know me to find out what else I'm really good at. (That's me trying to be good at being mysterious.)
The first things people usually notice about me
My new tattoo and my beauty-mark piercing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(This section is always the most difficult for me to write, but I feel good about finally getting around to it.)

I love reading. So much so that I was teased about it in middle school. Favorite book: Jane Eyre. I love authors Jane Austen, George R.R. Martin, Robert Jordan, Isabel Allende, and Brandon Sanderson. I'm up for reading more than just girly classics and fantasy/sci-fi, but that's usually what I gravitate towards. I also read cookbooks and how-to books.

I have a not-so-secret love of mindless action movies. I enjoy watching romantic comedies, dramas, and independent films, but there are few things that get me as stoked as watching movies like Crank and xXx, as much as I'm ashamed to admit it (which obviously isn't much since I'm admitting it here).

My taste in music didn't really form until just the last couple years. My family was never one to listen to much besides the Beatles and Bobby McFerrin. Happy stuff. Recently I've discovered that I like Rush, the Strokes, dredg, Kate Nash, Darrell Scott, Regina Spektor, Vampire Weekend, Portishead, Tenacious D... Well, the list goes on. I like music that makes me laugh, inspires me to dance, or gives me goosebumps.

Vegetarian food is the bomb-diggity, yo. That said, I have a special place in my heart for Thai and Mexican food.
Six things I could never do without
1. Loved ones. People I can talk to about life.

2. Food. Obviously. But I do actually love food. A lot.

3. Water.

4. Intellectual stimulation. I love to be entertained, which isn't hard. I love having those deep, intelligent conversations you have when you're just getting to know someone. I also love to be challenged to think.

5. Exercise. I've been in situations where I have not been able to exercise regularly. Believe me, not a pretty Katie. I deteriorate physically and emotionally. Luckily, my super-fast metabolism saves me from gaining too much weight, but I get all jello-like.

6. Birth control. Enough said.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-my plans
-my constantly growing to-do list
-that movie I saw
-that book I read
-that joke someone told me
-whether or not I've done anything too awkward in the past twenty-four hours
-how much sleep will I get tonight?
On a typical Friday night I am
Ideally - hanging out with a group of close friends, talking and listening to music, playing games and getting a little tipsy. Or going out and dancing/partying.

Usually - relaxing at home, reading, watching a movie, or playing Rock Band with my little bro.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There are very few things I keep to myself. Makes for some awkward moments. Consider yourself warned. :P
You should message me if
You'd like to get to know me. :)

P.S. It bodes well for your chances of me replying if correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar are used... Just putting that out there. ;)
