My self-summary
*Send messages to the next guy until I get my car... unless all you want is friends for now.

Serendipity? Psh. Where is my saccharine story about bumping into each other in the neighborhood, local grocery store, friend-of friend, or just down the office hall? I guess I won't find her until I seriously start searching, investing as much energy as I do when trying to find other things. I would walk the entirety of the Pacific Crest Trail if someone told me with certainty that we would find each other on it. I would sing karaoke in front of a 1000 people if I knew she was in the crowd. Maybe we've already passed each other a dozen times blithely unaware. Alas, I do not know. I do not know...

"Be careful who you give your precious energy to." -friend Vani

"Being married to the wrong person is worse than being single. Being married to the right person is wonderful." -friend Ashley

Looking for people who are a mix of science-loving nerd, mild geek, artist/musician, hiker/bicyclist, and traveler, with a curious, calm, and optimistic disposition. Let's go out on adventures, stay in and relax, share secrets, support each other's goals, cuddle on rainy days, boost each other's mood, learn together...

If I could transfer all my Facebook likes to OkCupid likes, I'd probably already be married. I'm sad that OkCupid eliminated the quizzes - they were the fun part of the website that brought me to it. Now there's just, well, dating >__<. Though, I hope to be someone's favorite person someday. So send a message if you'd like to explore Discovery Park, make ceramic pottery at PaintTheTown, fold paper animals, or see the terracotta warriors at PacSci.

me: curious, contemplative, creative, calm in confrontation, ambitious while not aggressive, affable... and apparently alliterative.

present: 🔃 career, enjoying time single with friends, reducing stuff load
future: ⌛ looking for love, house? children?

motivations: building, knowledge, auditory/visual aesthetics, puzzle solving.

origins: Oregon -> Texas -> Washington.

interests: languages, typography, math, fractals, psychology, photography, drawing, music theory, biology, genealogy, hiking.

What I’m doing with my life
Writing code on the weekdays, enjoying little adventures on the weekends. I'm mostly satisfied with who I am (my career is mentally stimulating, actually pushes the field forward, and affects millions of lives in a small way), but there is more left to explore in life, and for that, it seems it takes two.

"Ah, The NGWJHMTRGYAHRWPWSLAHWTPE. The NGWJHMTRGYAHRWPWSLAHWTPE is enjoying his life. He likes his job, he likes his friends, and he likes being single just fine. He’s in no rush to be in a relationship and feels totally confident that at some point, he’ll meet the right girl and get married."

visited: much of the Puget Sound, half the states, Mexico, Canada, Spain, Italy, Costa Rica, and Japan. Would like to see Australia, Ireland, and Germany.

things tried: paragliding, hot yoga (2016-08-11), flyboarding, skydiving, swinging from a 14-story platform, playing piano in front of 200 people, crawling through a cave, cosplay at a geeky convention.

things untried: paddleboarding, bicycling in the Solstice Parade, hot air balloon...
I’m really good at
Drawing (pencil, pen, conté crayon, chalk), origami
Playing piano (started age 9, but rusty now - my Roland must feel neglected).
• Figuring out how things work, especially spatial puzzles.
• Handwriting (others are always surprised when they see my signature on a restaurant receipt).

Six things I could never do without
• warmth - sun/hot chocolate on a cold day
• interesting people - show me new things
• little creations I've made - past drawings/programs
• some form of static media - my books and magazines
• some form of interactive media - games and shows
• internet - how else are you supposed to answer your burning random questions such as the world record for the longest hair or biggest collection of Daleks?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"The more swiss cheese you have, the more holes you have. The more holes you have, the less swiss cheese you have. Therefore, the more swiss cheese you have, the less swiss cheese you have."

Why is it that people who are "out-of-phase" in all those scifi episodes don't fall through the floor? (among other unsettled plot holes) Why google advertises liposuction to me of all people when there are plenty of Inuits in need of good ice cubes? Add to that dozens of topics that pique my interest over time.

Motivations behind other's actions, and my own. No, really: http://pikensoft.com/temp/motivations.txt

How to find the needles in this huge haystack. It's a lot of effort to read hundreds of profiles! (though, I do enjoy it, as everyone has unique and interesting points)

Comparing replies in 2014 to 2017, I notice the replies were much more cordial (and plentiful) in 2014. I doubt I'm much different, so maybe the crowd of women using the site or their attitude has changed, overwhelmed by the quantity or rudeness of messages. I wonder how to solve this dating dilemma. To reduce being overwhelmed, do we throttle the number of outgoing messages per person, or throttle the number of incoming to per person? Maybe we only allow one first message per person until/unless she responds? (a bit harsh if your first message got lost in the sea) Maybe women would receive fewer messages if okc showed a list up front on their profile of the kinds of guys she is attracted to, and more from guys similar to what she actually likes.
On a typical Friday night I am
Might be a movie, visiting a friend/vice versa to play either video or board games, or just staying indoors catching up on a queue of YouTube/TED talk videos.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
"Nothing, for it's the big vewy scewy internet" ... Oi, show you have a sense of levity, and tell the world something completely completely harmless, such as...

• Cringes around hypodermic needles. Circus clowns are pretty scary too. Though, the number 13 is quite lucky.
• Was red-haired as infant until it darkened. Still sinister as ever though (left-handed).
• M&M's are eaten as follows: brown, orange, red, yellow, green, blue.
• My oldest known ancestor is Jonathan Andrew Tierce, born ~1745 in Ireland, and my initials are that of an American President (Yes, the dead one. No, the other dead one).
• Never too old for cartoons (series or movies).
• Don't play with them anymore, but I still have every one of my LEGO's.
• Hate the sound of my voice. Not sexy >_<.
• I danċe to the lively music when no one else is looking (care to sing to Haiducii Dragostea din tei with me? It's seriously happier than any song should be).
• I do not have IED, LFT, Münchausen syndrome, OCPD, Self-Abasement, or Asperger's Syndrome, and I definitely don't have hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia, or else it would have taken all my courage just to finish typing that last word!
• I won't waste my time or yours with lies that you'd find out anyway after meeting, and the truth is a heck of a lot easier to remember!
You should message me if
...you think I'd make a fun friend to spend time with, maybe more, or you have a friend you think I'd be good with. I like optimistic souls with curiosity and cheer, especially the bookish geeks, slightly outdoorsey intellectuals, musically inclined, mathy, weird, and artsy people. If I send a message to you, and you're disinterested, just write "Nah", and I won't send another - I won't insult you, and it benefits us both timewise. I used this site for dating for a while, and 20+ dates later via this site, I may not have met my mate, but I've met 6 cool friends including one of my best. So I will keep the profile here.
