My self-summary
I am a scientist by education, computer engineer by trade, artist at heart, creator of objects (some even useful ;-) ). I have the best job in the world, at what I consider to be the best federal agency there is, and I am very lucky to work with a lot of close friends. I am also lucky that I can leave work at work, and being able to do so at a boringly usual hours.

I think the word “friend” has a special meaning. It takes a while for me to call someone a friend, because once I do, I will drive 120 miles through the snow storm to help a friend dig out his car from under 5 feet of snow. And cook him a duck with potatoes dinner afterwards, because there is no decent conversation without good food.

I am quite happy with most of my life. I have a few very close friends. I have two beautiful, sweet kids that I am very close with. I do a lot of things outside work: a bit of woodworking, pottery, fixing old houses, and other things that let me create things with my hands. I am very interested in psychology, and I am trying to learn as much as I can about it. It is very rewarding and intellectually stimulating.

What’s missing in this picture is a deep emotional and intellectual connection with a romantic companion, a life partner and a close friend. It is important for me to have all three in one. I have tried to get by on just one or two, and see where it got me? :-)
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying it, one day at a time. Dreaming of years to come. :-)
Raising my two wonderful kids, with as much love as I can possibly give, and then some.
Keeping in touch with all my friends, and helping them where I can.
Considering studying for a degree in clinical psychology just for fun.
I’m really good at
I am good at listening and understanding.
I am a pretty decent dream interpreter. I beleive dreams are a great way to understand oneself better, they are a direct dialogue with your Unconscious, which knows it all better then you do. Just kidding. :-)
I love my job and I kick ass at it.
Cooking and sharing a tasty meal with friends.
Noticing things that make life warmer and more beautiful.
Analysing and coming up with explanations of how things and people work or why they happen or do what they do.
Using my hands. I can use them with precise force to make pretty things out of glass, wood or clay, and I can use them with gentle care to speak passion to you.
The first things people usually notice about me
That they can talk about absolutely anything with me, from stock market to deeply personal emotions. And my faint Russian accent.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Martian by Andy Weir (the book is so much better then the movie!), Deathworld by Harry Harrison, The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov. Ender's game and other books by Orson Scott Card.
All of Andrei Tarkovsky's movies, Babylon 5, the new Battlestar Galactica and Caprica. Blade Runner!!!
The West Wing, Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, House, Iron Chef, Good Eats, How it's made, Breaking Bad, Orange is the new Black. In Treatment: why do they kill the best shows that cost next to nothing to produce?
Sushi, quality Chinese, Greek, and anything else that is cooked with care, love and imagination. But leave that olive off my plate, please. :-)
Six things I could never do without
my kids, good friend, good food, my job, seeing a happy smile, creating cool and pretty things with my hands
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Being green and a good steward of whatever resources are within my control.
Dreams. Both mine and other's. Dreams are the gateway into our unconscious, into our inner self.
What makes people who they are and how they can be happier.
On a typical Friday night I am
With my kids helping them with homework, making them dinner, playing with them.
On other days I might be making things or cooking something pretty yummy (I hope!) for my friends. They are either very fond of my cooking or have very good poker faces. :-)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
.. totally depend on who's listening. :-)
You should message me if
You're ready for more than 'just another date', You want to make time for someone to enter your life and truly connect with. You don’t believe in just settling and you sometimes wonder what if your best feeling ever was just a start. You are a smart and warm woman who’s cool, genuine and fun to be with. Someone who has what it takes to build a healthy, meaningful and mutually fulfilling relationship.

If you are interested, don't be afraid to say "hi", I'll take it from there. Who knows? I might like you too. At the very least, maybe we can be friends.

Let's talk about it over a glass of wine and see where things take us.

Oh, and a little warning: when we meet off-line if you look nothing like your pictures you will have to buy me drinks until you do! :-)
