My self-summary
I'm a sarcastic, intelligent and active person who loves mountain biking, video games, gardening, movies, theatre and books (comic or otherwise). I'm looking for someone to challenge me, introduce me to something new or share adventures with!

I enjoy traveling to other countries and getting to really see how the people live. It may not be as comfortable as a luxury resort, but you get so many excellent stories when backpacking between sketchy hostels in new and interesting places :)

- I have a policy of not saying no to new experiences.
- I live in a big old house that I renovate with periodic vigor.
- I have a wonderful Wookiee of a dog named Gordon.
- I outsource my fashion decisions.
- I love to garden, but I only grow cash crops.
What I’m doing with my life
I write medical software during the week, and on weekends I try to get out on a seasonally appropriate recreational device.
I’m really good at
Travel. I enjoy myself when the trip goes well, and I bring back amusing stories of my misfortunes when things go off the rails :)
The first things people usually notice about me
My beard! Unless I've recently shaved: then they remark about my LACK of beard :) There is something very satisfying about learning how to such a manly thing in an effective way.

Once I figured out the geektastic world of shaving included german engineered stainless steel safety razors, badger hair brushes and english lavendar shaving soap I was hooked! Now I've become a silent catty critic of the shave quality of every man I interact with ...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favourite book was Moby Dick, but sadly University beat my love of reading out of me. I am a avid reader of online articles and I am the sort of dinosaur that still gets the paper delivered...

Now that I can get my comics in trade format, I'm enjoying a renaissance of reading comics. Not just indies like The Losers or Powers, but also some of the excellent re-imaginings of classic characters like Superman and Batman. Favourite current comic book is Umbrella Academy.

My favourite movies are Wages of Fear, Wild Zero, Black Dynamite, Battle Royale ... although I can talk your ear off about any crazy genre film!

My favourite band is They Might be Giants, although I'll listen to anything that is fun or soulful ... I love my Patsy Cline...

My favourite food is ... pretty much everything. Nothing worse than a picky eater!
Six things I could never do without
My Dog
My friends / family
Trails: both dirt or snowpacked
My computer
My iPhone
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Insane new projects around my house. I dug a trench around my entire basement, buried weeping tile, mixed concrete, built a subfloor and installed flooring ... because it seemed like fun, and I hate getting my socks wet.

My socks are dry now, although oddly enough I rarely wear them in the summer anyway :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Biking or boarding if a friend is available, or sitting on my deck with a beer, my computer and my dog if it's a lazy night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I cried when Spock died, then again when the Enterprise blew up (the first time)
You should message me if
You should message me if you like genre films, mountain biking, curling or snowboarding ... and especially if you have a soft spot in your heart for fluffy wookiee dogs.
