No I am not in therapy, but I am still the (occasional) therapist.
Anything I set my mind to I get really good at, fast. Not too fussy what it is as long as it's interesting. There is something about Latin dance, especially Zouk, that I love and I so wish that I was really good at it .
Tango, wow! As someone said "Life is like Tango... sad, sensual, sexy, violent and quiet". I have to admit, I was warned "Tango will eat you alive", hmmm, now where's that sauce.
Well, it could be my hazel eyes, my height, of course, it's my height.
I am a huge music fan and a day never goes past when I dont spend time listening to some of my favorites or discovering new sounds. I listen to everything from Jazz to Trip hop or Dream House and all things in between. I have nearly 4,000 songs on my I Phone (totally full) ranging from Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs (huge fan) to Kirsty MacColl or Kraftwerk. I have a heap of P.J. Harvey and lots of Sonic Youth. I loved Elvis Costello's new direction with "North" . but I have plenty of "The Attractions" as well. I like my local indie stuff as well and I am a fan of Sia, Jen Cloher, Love Outside Andromedra, The Waifs, Little Birdy and a special mention to Machine Gun Fellation (so outrageous) and to Inga Liljestrom(such an amazing voice). Nelly Furtado and Nina Hagen sit side by side, as does Nirvana, Natacha Atlas, No Doubt and Norah Jones. If you 'get' my music taste, thats great, if I just sound complacently uncritical, nothing could be further from the truth. I will never listen to Michael Bolton, but Henry Rollins is so cool.
I love movies that take me somewhere I have never been before, whether that is emotionally or just an amazing part of the world I have never seen. The Cohen brothers, and of course Almodovar are so successful at this, as is John Woo (pre hollywood) Kurosawa and Tsui Hark. There are so many amazing directors coming out of Europe and South America, but we don't see or hear about them because the Hollywood machine just grinds over the top of them. What a shame.
Ok, so Friendship, intimacy and respect figure high on my list, plus of course my children.
Music, I can't believe I forgot music! I couldn't live without music every single day of my life.
Take your pick, I enjoy all of it.
If you are slim and elegant and have a sense of style that will carry you in any situation, then you're in the ball park for me, if you're warm, kind hearted and trustworthy, you're a lot closer to the bulls-eye. I'm not saying that rotund and motherly and puffing like a whale after a brisk three minute walk is wrong, but I am saying its not for me.
I have my best ideas late at night and try to write them down, but when I read them back in the morning, they always seem a little strange. If this happens to you too, we will have something to talk about.
