My self-summary
I am looking for someone I can trust and respect, to buy me dinner.

That's a joke. It doesn't have to be dinner. It could be coffee. Or tea, since I rarely drink coffee. Or gum from the gumball machine.

It's nice that you guys keep "liking" me, but you do know I can't see you, right? Has this site evolved into Tinder Lite?
I’m really good at
Mulling over and answering the matching algorithm questions on OKCupid. I like when they make me think.

Reading John Grisham-type novels at a speed of 100 pages per hour.

Buttering toast PERFECTLY. Seriously, every millimeter of that toast will have butter on it.

Not falling asleep at the symphony.

Laughing at really, really bad jokes. Yes, even puns.

Spoiling other people's pets.
The first things people usually notice about me
The sixth finger on my right hand. I heard someone was looking for me, based on that attribute.

Seriously? My dimples
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:

I'm pretty omnivorous in this respect, but I freely admit that I read a lot of genre novels. Which is not intended to malign the gifts of the fine authors whose works I'm about to list; they are (mostly) exceptions to the rule. Some of my favorites include: Lamb: The Gospel According To Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore; The River Why by David James Duncan; Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins; Sunshine by Robin McKinley; the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett; At Home: A Short History of Private Life by Bill Bryson, and Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal by Mary Roach.

Movies:

I'll watch just about any movie that incorporates one or more of the following elements: Shakespeare, superheroes, swashbuckling, witty banter, smart chicks, chicks who kick ass, werewolves, costumes, wire-fu, dancing, guitar/flamethrower hybrids, and men with their shirts off. Examples include Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Mad Max: Fury Road, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Army Of Darkness, any Marvel movie, Aliens, Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead, Strictly Ballroom, The Fisher King, Harvey, The Philadelphia Story, and True Grit (both versions).

TV:

I am not slavish in my devotion, but I do watch TV on occasion. My appetites in television are pretty similar to my taste in movies. Clever with snappy dialogue like Firefly, The X-Files, The West Wing. Or a creative element of some sort: Project Runway, Top Chef. These days, I find myself watching more BBC America than American programming. Doctor Who?

Food:

As far as cooking goes, I like to refer to any new dish I attempt as a "kitchen experiment." I always like making, and eating, soup. As for dining out, I like just about everything: Chinese, Indian, BBQ, Thai, Greek, sushi, burgers. I grew up in San Diego, so taco stand Mexican food could be considered my native cuisine. I like vegetables, pretty much all of them. I've been on a seafood kick lately; I had the best salmon of my life at the Eiffel Tower restaurant in Las Vegas. And the best steak of my life at The Smoking Goat!
The six things I could never do without
Something fun to read.
Something illuminating to read.
Water. For drinking, gazing at, and playing in.
The Internets. Where so many of my friends live!
My friends. Including those not to be found on the Internet.
The Earth and all its wonders.

I have done without everything on this list at one time or another, (yes, even the last one, sorta), but life is far more pleasant with them than without.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why women don't take over sports bars on Oscar night, and spend the evening drinking white wine spritzers and shouting at each other over which attendee's gown is the best. I guess I'm going to have to organize an event like that one of these years.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home, embroidering my chastity girdle. How I wish I could retire this thing!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is what I'm doing on a typical Friday night.
You should message me if
Historically, I get along really well with engineers and Canadians. Are you perhaps a nice Canadian engineer?
