My self-summary
I'm really looking for someone to watch Game of Thrones with me. I have the first own the Seasons 1-5, but I've never actually watched the show with consistency. So, if you're down to watch, let me know.

I'm a graduate student, and that defines far more of my life at the moment than I'm comfortable with. I like basketball, good food, video games, and travel.
What I’m doing with my life
I like to be as active as a I can. I play racquetball and basketball, and would like to get back into tennis. I'm something of a fanatic about basketball, and I write about/blog about basketball for a few different outlets. I work at UCSB teaching courses while I am finishing up my Ph.D. Hopefully, in a year or so, I'll have a full-time professorship somewhere.
I’m really good at
I like to think I'm a pretty good cook for someone with zero training. I have self-taught myself quite a bit about computer hardware, and build and maintain computer systems.
The first things people usually notice about me
I honestly don't know the answer to this question...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: I generally enjoy movies. Among some favorites are the Lord of the Rings movies,

Books: Romance of the Three Kingdoms is probably my favorite. I used to read a bunch of Star Wars novels of various quality. I don't get a chance to read as much for fun anymore as I would like.

Shows: I really don't watch much television, but I'm a total sucker for The Simpsons. I like Game of Thrones, but really haven't watched much.
The six things I could never do without
The internet
My dumb-phone
A little hope
Shorts (god I hate pants...)
My family
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Traveling. Family. Where I'll be in a few years.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching a movie or playing games/talking with friends online. I'm mostly a homebody, though I like to go out to see movies with friends and will occasionally hang out at a bar somewhere with friends and colleagues.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm the proud uncle of a pediatric heart transplant survivor.
You should message me if
You want to go do something fun. I'm looking, more than anything, for someone who wants to live a little, but not too much! I'm not the most outgoing person, and I apparently don't know how to start conversations on here, so if you think it'd be fun to do something, shoot me an idea and we can see how things go.
