My self-summary
I recently replaced my car with a nice backpack. It does not look as nice in my garage as my car did. See what I did there?
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a data scientist / backend programmer. I create mathematical models based on social media presence and language that help evaluate the marketing value an individual may provide to a brand. I did my graduate work in computational neuroscience. I built a 3d printer, I'm trying to teach my computer to talk, and when I tell Siri "good night," all of my lights turn off and my air conditioner turns on. For now, stuff like that, but I dunno maybe eventually the exact opposite? Hey, Yoshimi?
I’m really good at
Things most people are bad at, but I often trip when I walk.

Uber. 4.9 average passenger rating. Oh yeah.

Embarrassing myself doing basic human activities, typically by injuring myself (see tripping while walking), breaking something, or momentarily forgetting Steve Jobs died while talking to a hiring manager at Apple.

Moonwalking. Inexplicably.

Learning new things and sounding smarter than I am.

Making obscure cultural references no one in my immediate vicinity understands.
The first things people usually notice about me
How much better I look on TV, and how I'm not at all like the characters I play.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I inhale nonfiction. But I doubt anyone cares that I read "Clean Code" in a day or that I have more books authored by Richard Dawkins than JK Rowling - so more than 7. I probably read fiction slower than average; I'm currently working my way through A Song of Ice and Fire for the second time.

TV: I watch a lot of shows as I enjoy character development. A lot. Excluding reality tv, I've at least tried most every popular show. Inquire and I'll happily tell you exactly why I love or hate any of them. That's how you get ants, anyone?

Movies: I appreciate good story telling and thought Abrams did a great job with The Force Awakens. I think it's clear from the camera work alone that he understands how to use the medium effectively. But, I'm not a huge movie fan generally. They just aren't long enough for me to get emotionally invested in characters, so I prefer books and shows.

Music: I play guitar, piano, and drums (my mom is a music teacher). I collect vinyls and my turntable is even nicer than my backpack. I listen to rock, indie, electro, folk, everything mostly. Recently played: Andrew Bird, Discovery, Chromeo, Jimi Hendrix, Sublime, Ratatat, Eminem, Queen, The Decemberists, TV on the Radio, Kanye, Rogue Wave, The Shins, Lupe, Justice, Menomena, Simon & Garfunkel, Tame Impala.

Food: I always have creme freiche in my refrigerator and cook a lot. I definitely eat more than you or probably anyone you know.
The six things I could never do without
Amazon Prime.
A well equipped kitchen.
My dog.
A space to relax.
Running shoes.
I spend a lot of time thinking about

How meta I am.

Language and its relationship to symbolic logic. Knowledge representation in general.

The technological singularity, its rapid approach, and its economic and philosophical implications.

The Drake equation.

Your mom and Emily Post.
On a typical Friday night I am
a rocket ship on my way to mars.
You should message me if
You think I would like you.
