My self-summary
Hello world,

If you can tell me
what kind of poems these are,
you gain 10 cool points!

Astute, worldly guy
Friend of food, coffee, and art
offbeat humor. Yay.

Last updated: Jan 18, 2017, so I may have gotten 17 tattoos since then.

As far as my talents go, I am sort of a Renaissance man...jack of all trades, master of none. Both my left and right brain work great, except when drinking. I'm an engineer by day, violinist by night.

I'm somewhat athletic, meaning that I can be tricked into exercising by (1) making me chase a ball or a disc or (2) playing in the great outdoors. Also, I take care of my health.

I can cook a meal without using a microwave. If you convince me you are awesome, I may even cook for you. Belgian beef stew and kale salad.
What I’m doing with my life
I colleged, and I am now a full-time young professional working too many hours trying to save the world. In general, I have my shit together, despite my messy room.

In my spare time, I have been known to travel to new places, because I love trying new things and opening my mind. Oh, and of course, did I mention all the new foods?

As far as the big picture, I do not know the details of what I want to do, but I know that I am heading in the right direction and making mostly right turns.
I’m really good at
I'm a decent violinist.

I'm good at cooking. Belgian-style beef stew, roasted potatoes, and kale salad are some of the highlights. I love to cook!

Taking an occasional photo that turns out really good.

Playing in the snow. Cross-country skiing may be my favorite thing ever. I also downhill ski.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hm. A lot of people have commented that I'm well-dressed in my work clothes.

I usually do more listening than talking. Don't take that as a sign that I'm not engaged in the conversation.

I get along with most people. I'm bad at making enemies.

I'm a calm person. My friend once spent 2 years trying to piss me off.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: Calvin and Hobbes, art books, books with more pictures than words.

movies: Office Space, anything Pixar, a lot of Coen Brothers stuff, Spirited Away, Amelie, just to name a few. Movies that are funny in unconventional/creative ways. Planet Earth in HD. Visually engaging films, preferably with a good story.

food: Yes, please.
Six things I could never do without
1. coffee (nothing like an aromatic freshly French-pressed cup of it!)
2. my iPhone - an infinite number of maps that fits in my back pocket? Fuck yeah!
3. Capilene
4. earplugs
5. violin (unrelated to earplugs!)
6. caramelization. browning betters my food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what I am doing with my life...extended quarter-life crisis. what I should cook for dinner. if a tree falls in the forest, and nobody is around to hear it...
On a typical Friday night I am
Playing indoor soccer or adventuring. Both involve beer.

And I may be sitting by a fire.

I'd like to go out to the symphony or some other live music one of these Friday nights, though.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am 5'9" and 165 lbs (175 cm and 70 kg for those who are Metric-inclined). And I bench press 98356 lbs. And one of those statements is a lie.
You should message me if can also bench 98356 lbs. have a sense of humor and a ready smile. are open to trying new things fancy new foods are intelligent. Smart is sexy. can juggle knives and flaming torches while dancing flamenco on a giant inflatable turtle going over Multnomah Falls...upside down...while whistling "Sheila sells seashells by the seashore".
