My self-summary
Midwestern, corn-fed lad who escaped to the Pacific Northwest for "higher education" and adventure in 2001 and decided to stick around. I'm a bit of a walking contradiction - focused and professional at the day job - and foul-mouthed and not very serious once 5:00 hits. I seem to float on the edges of various social groups like some sort of chameleon but really cultivate a small, close circle of friends who are like my second family to me.

Besides my friends and family, my passion in life is stories. I love to write (although it has been awhile) but stories come to me in all forms - music, movies, television, books, comics, storytellers... I guess I must have some escapist tendencies.

Spending time in Nature is pretty important as far as enjoying the awesome beauty present in forests, mountains, lakes, and oceans but also to recharge, relax, and connect to my spirit. I love to have friends along the way and would love to have a special guy to share my tent with.

Spiritually, I resonate mostly with Wicca and eclectic Celtic paganism. By no means am I currently tied to any one "tradition" and have been struggling to not assume those that are too strict are a tad elitist. I think each person's connection to the Divine (and I don't mean *that* Divine, unless of course, she's your thing... lol...) or lack thereof is a personal journey and your higher self is likely your best guide.

I am a firm believer that faith and science are both requisite experiences for us to explore in our time here and while I am often a skeptic I always have believed in the most fantastic of things. Another of my quizzical contradictions, I suppose!
What I’m doing with my life
I have a very playful spirit. I don't believe that we are put here to suffer needlessly so try to live my life with a sense of enjoyment. This makes for pretty fun low-key weekends with not too much stress.
I worked in call center account and operations management for about 9 years before moving to Seattle by way of Wisconsin. I was raised in Nebraska and travel back frequently to visit family and friends.
I attempted a BFA in Creative Writing and Medieval English Lit ages ago and then came back to college in my older years to get a Bachelor's Degree in Herbal Sciences and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. Since then I have combined my management and medical experience into a rather satisfying career as a manager for a non-profit community health center.
I’m really good at
I am truly a heartfelt person. I listen well and am receptive to communication. I love hard and am loyal. I am grounded. I do well with the people part of my job. I can cook a few things that when I get around to it make me wonder why I ever even eat out.
The first things people usually notice about me
is that I chew like a rabbit. O.o
I am also quiet in a crowd.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
When it comes to music, 80's metal and old country songs tell the best stories but if you're trying to get me to dance then goth/industrial is your best bet. Unless you have a bonfire, full moon, some drums, maybe a didje or recorder, then I do my witchy dance. :)

Bands: Iron Maiden, Project Pitchfork, Doro, Twilight Singers, PJ Harvey, Loreena McKennitt, Heart, Stevie Nicks, King Diamond, old Queensryche - you know, metal, rock 'n roll, witchy pagan stuff, gothic rock, some darkewave, and I admit - some old country stuff. I will totally geek out to Journey if left unchecked.

Books: Fantasy and Horror (Oh and if you can combine them? Squeeee!). I also have a ton of pagan books and books on herbalism and natural health. My favorite books are Catmagic by Whitley Strieber, The Dark Tower Series (as well as Eyes of the Dragon and IT) by Stephen King, The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, The Kushiel trilogy by Jacqueline Carey, The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, The Most Haunted House in England by Harry Price, The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and anything HP Lovecraft ever wrote.
I used to really be into the Star Trek Next Generation and Forgotten Realms books but there were too many to keep up with. With some editorial direction changes at DC Comics several years ago, I pretty much only read scifi comics from Image now. I used to collect probably 20+ titles a month until they went down the drain. It should be noted I am a complete geek for Batman, though.

Movies: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Shining, The Haunting (1963), In the Mouth of Madness, The Crow, The Exorcist, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, To Wong Fu, Heathers (!!!!), Serial Mom, Across the Universe, Girls Will Be Girls, Legend, The Last Unicorn, Spirited Away, Shakes the Clown, Lost Boys, Goonies, Hot Fuzz, Harry Potter, Blair Witch Project, Mixed Nuts, The Muppet Christmas Carol, The House of Yes, and the Secret of Kells.

Shows: Lost, Twin Peaks, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dr Who, The Catherine Tate Show, Little Britain, Game of Thrones, Dexter, Nashville, Justice League cartoons, The Simpsons, South Park, Archer, Carnivale, Jericho, Battlestar Gallactica, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Arrow, Bob's Burgers, Defying Gravity, Kyle XY, Legend of the Seeker, Xena, Buffy, Modern Family, Mindy Project, Strangers With Candy, Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, The Office, Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Stranger Things, Daredevil, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Food: I am mostly vegetarian but I loves me some fried chicken - also turkey and seafood. Never pork, beef, other red meat. Italian, Mexican, Thai are my favorite cuisines.
Six things I could never do without
Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit, Rock and roll! :-P
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the relationships in my life, our connection to Nature and spirit, how awesome my friends are, the future of society (more of a recent pondering with so much change for good overshadowing some of the scary things going on in government), justice, balance, music.
On a typical Friday night I am
This would sound so much more interesting if it asked my about Saturdays nights, but OK! On Fridays I am usually getting home from work realizing I didn't take the time to make any plans during the week and thus enjoying an evening in, sometimes with movies, dinner, occasional friend. Often Friday evening is my me-time. I can be a bit of a homebody, but when it comes to having grand adventures out around town or wherever I do prefer to have a mischievous partner-in-crime!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I had to change anything about myself I would say I wish I were more motivated to exercise. It's sooooo borrrring unless I can do it outside or make it fun somehow. However I would like to lose 30 lbs and food is really good so I'm not gonna stop that! :)

Something else that is rather private and weird to share in the modern, urban dating landscape is that I am a bit of a romantic. In a long-term mate I am looking for a man who is willing to walk, run, and skip down the path beside me in a balanced partnership, particularly emotionally. Someone with who we will always work to meet each other halfway. I'm looking for a loyal best friend that I'm in love with and want to bang all the time. LOL. If you get what I am talking about here, then cool.

I want us to connect mentally, spiritually, and *ahem* physically without being too similar. I like to show my affection physically and appreciate reciprocity in that.

I also don't function well in a relationship that is wide-open, sexually. I think clear boundaries are critical and realistic, and like relationships could perhaps change over time, but I'm on the monogamous side of the spectrum which feels like a relationship death knell these days.
You should message me if
you want me to explain any of the crazy shit I wrote in this profile. Or you know, iffin ya wanna make out and stuff.
