2013-02-15 Getting ready to give a day of ski lessons in Verbier. Sunshine and cold weather with crisp and crunchy snow. Hoping we can see the Matterhorn and the Mont Blanc.
2013-01-31 Les Grands Montets, Argentière, on the glacier, then le Pendant, fresh powder off piste on the steepest pistes in Europe, dancing. I was so tired i was in bed by 16:30, the earliest I have ever been in a long time. Very happy dreams...
2013-01-18 powder at Avoriaz, all day. No offerings needed to the snow goddess today. She was so kind to us today. I worked up such a sweat in -12 Celsius (13 runs on the Grandes Combes and Les Prodaines) like I have never done in years. I was literally steaming when we stopped for lunch.
The wider, lighter, shorter carving skis held up well in powder up to 30 cm deep. I particularly liked skiing under the chairlift, which I studied on the way up ( a few obstacles to avoid). I needed to stop several times to catch my wind, but I was happy with myself.
We were dancing down the steepest part of the snowcross Crozet and had the slope almost all to ourselves. No more dancing tonight, even if it is Friday, sorry girls. I deserved my hot soak in the tub tonight.
I think we must have done some 10'000 vertical meters today...
Thanks to my mom for putting me on skis so long ago and for her patience, generosity and encouragement; she could never have imagined how grateful I am. I would really like to share these kind of moments with a special someone.
Sunday, 2013-01-13 recovering from a full day of powder skiing yesterday (first time in years) in 25 cm of fresh powder. Learned a new technique from a friend who skis better than me... I made the obligatory offerings to the snow goddess by falling into her wonderful whiteness five times, then a friend's birthday party until 2 this morning... Coffee and computer(s) with a neighbor this morning and a deserved nap this afternoon. . Currently listening to Airto Moreira ...
