My self-summary
My life has, at some times, been exceedingly trying and sometimes more challenging, than I would have hoped. More ups than downs I think, but more than enough periods of doubt. It has been an interesting story I assure you, but one of few regrets. Many successes, but my share of broken hearts, too, (and I like the successes better). God has made an incredible difference in my life and that is more I could have ever asked for. I would love to share that story with you, and just maybe, the last chapter, a story that we would share together.
What I’m doing with my life
Living it! As fully and as functionally as I can. Just missing one element, you!
I’m really good at
connecting with people of all kinds. From little children to their parents and grandparents. It's a good thing to have in my line of work. And I love sharing the story of Jesus Christ, and God's Grace. I tell it often and I tell it well!
The first things people usually notice about me
I am hoping that you will tell me that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like books about people of integrity and scruples, books of faith. I'm currently reading Eric Metaxas new book; Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy. It is seldom that I have an opportunity to read for pleasure. I like some TV crime shows, (Castle, and Bones), more so because of the interplay between the characters, and always funny movies and period pieces, but generally at home. I find attending the theater alone uncomfortable, as is dining in some restaurants; but little out of the way places don't seem to be that way, and I can eat and read my paper or book peacefully. Ethnic food of all kinds work, although for as much as I love Asian food, I'm not a big fan of Korean cuisine. Music of ALL kinds, although country always reminds me of broken hearts, honky tonks, pick-up trucks, lost dogs and beer. And I have always been a Blues fan, with a growing appreciation for certain kinds of jazz. Big Bands are cool, and certain symphonies. You figure it out, I surely can't.
Six things I could never do without
Wow! This is a lot more complicated than I would have thought. But as a result of the way my life has turned out, God's grace and love would be first, (not counting air, water, and nourishment). I used to think I could never do w/o love and companionship, but one can survive. Although, without love it is a pretty lonely journey. Family of course, even if they all live thousands of miles away, one can always, "reach out and touch." Integrity, honesty and morality would rank pretty high, too, but all this might make me sound a bit sanctimonious, and I certainly am not. Just a sinner and saint, like everyone else.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how, or why, the world, or (more specifically,) "people", are the way they are. And I wonder what the world would be like if we all followed Christ's command to His disciples to, "love God and love our neighbors". Probably more time than I should actually, but it goes with the territory.
On a typical Friday night I am
relaxing and writing, or editing what I hope is my final efforts for the week. Dinner would be a quiet affair unless I get together with friends, but they are all married and it sometimes seems like I am a 5th wheel. I enjoy the quiet, although the TV is on in the background. My parrot enjoys the colors and noise I think, but he seems to dislike the Blues and Jazz I like. Might be a phase he is going through, albeit since he is 18 yrs old, I don't think he is going to change. Apparently old birds like old dogs, are unteachable.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Online? Then it wouldn't be private, would it?
You should message me if
your looking to make the journey with me. If you're just looking for a pit-stop, I wouldn't be interested, and neither would you.
