My self-summary
I've been living in Sydney for about 8 years now. I live in a lovely part of town, close to everything, yet quiet enough.

I have a love affair with media, pop culture, politics and music. I like to think of ways they all align (and conversely, converge), and keep myself amused quite often playing that game when doing menial tasks.

I want to be a writer when i grow up.

I spent a fair amount of my life not really knowing what on earth I should be doing, nor how to go about doing any of it. These days I feel like im making up for lost time, but its a kind of anxiously fun experience.

I am radical, unreal, and ethereal
What I’m doing with my life
I'm not going to lie - at the moment I am spending most of my time going on extended walks around the city, playing Ingress. Not sure how long this will last, but its 'getting me fit' and also fulfilling my need to be an epic nerd.

I host a trivia night that causes me no end of wonderful stress. I also continue to DJ in clubs around the way, as well as weddings so that i can play daggy music to well dressed drunks.

But most importantly, I try and share awesome experiences with those that I know. Get to know new people, sure, but cherish the friendships you get from the people you meet who you know are keepers.
I’m really good at
I talk a lot. I can listen pretty well, and then talk about what was just said. I can write really well (this procrastination profile update excluded) I'm good at admiring the work or skills of others.

I'm also really good at comprehending varied sets of data, especially when they are trivial.

And I'm excellent at wasting my time.
The first things people usually notice about me
My laugh apparently (from my friend Ben reading this profile...)

I do have a kind of distinctive giggle/bellow/i don't know what, and I really am laughing about something a fair bit of the time.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music is a massive love of mine, and I tend to seek it out above all other things... My six favourite bands are The New Pornographers, Regurgitator, Give Up the Ghost, Giant Drag, Sleater-Kinney, and The Decemberists, but that doesn't tell the whole story - I love my hip-hop (especially instrumental and underground stuff), as well as electronica, modern heavy psyche rock, and basically anything that is a bit dangerous or a bit pretty or hopefully both. I tend to scrunch my nose up at safe, ugly music, such as auto-tuned rnb pop dance smash hits, but thats not to say I wont dance to them either. The best records I have heard in a while is Hermitude's new one "HyperParadise", Ty Segall's "Twins", Cat Power's fabulous "Sun", Mojo Juju's self titled solo record and Purity Ring's "Shrines" is just a record that keeps on giving. Oh, and basically The Modern Lovers forever and ever and ever and ever. Gigs I have been to recently and loved -- Polica, Kashmere Stage Band and Regurgitator NYE styles...

When it comes to food -- I was born in the year of the goat. I will eat anything. But I'm really really over Thai food. Its just not that good, nor is it warranted to have 70% of available eateries in my area be Thai food places. It just doesn't make sense. That said, the red duck curry from this one place in Glebe is *that dinner*.

Books and movies I also adore, but I've listed too much stuff already...

Just know that my favourite authors are (no order) -- Haruki Murakami, David Mitchell, Neal Stephenson and Terry Pratchett with smatterings of other ones in there too. I like a good book though :)

And movies...

My two favourite movies are Adaptation and Empire Records with The Cabin In The Woods, Scott Pilgrim versus The World and Sling Blade rounding out a forever changing top 5. See, I like them all. I really do. I love daggy rom-coms, dark as hell arthouse comedies, stupid action movies, crappy teen movies... Im easy, but I guess the best thing is, I am really grateful on that day I turned up to the cinema in year 9 to see True Lies, some completely OTT James Cameron directed Arnie and Jamie Lee Curtis movie, and we had missed it, and so my friend suggested we go watch Fargo, a movie I had never heard of. And I laughed differently, but more satisfying to that movie than any previous incarnation of 'comedy' i had been offered.

I know I haven't listed a religion above, but ... lets just say I am a Whedonist. If you want to hang with me and go through Buffy and Angel and Firelfly, I don't care who you are, I will make time for that weekend/week/month to happen. I like lots of TV shows. I don't find Little Britain funny. Not big into trashy shows where they get a bunch of idiots to run around being vacuous on a beach either. Currently watching :: Boardwalk Empire, Six Feet Under for the first time, and Moone Boy.
Six things I could never do without
my friends
my records
my radio
a place to rest my weary head
access to good multicultural food
and my imagination
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Silly things to do with movie titles... such as how possibly they approved the movie "Final Destination" and then allowed two sequels to be made, regardless that of the fact they had got to the final destination in the first one (I assume). Also, at the end of that Jet Li movie "The One", it totally sets it up for a sequel. Would that be called "The One 2"? And on the topic of setting up for sequels, at the end of the Super Mario Brother movie way way back in the day, it was more set up for a sequel than anything ive ever seen since -- yet it never happened. Surely there is a script for it out there we could 'swede'.

My thoughts arent always that trivial, but the tangents generally are. Its really a whole bunch of daggy fun inside my head most of the time, at least for me :)
On a typical Friday night I am
The most fun i really have is with my best friends and a few bottles of wine at someone's place, dancing to records in the living room or kitchen.

Lately, it has been me doing some DJing work, and then tottling off into the night to play Ingress. I am really ok with this.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am in my 30's but I still haven't got to the point where tomato juice is ok.
You should message me if
If you live in Sydney and want a new friend.

If you fancy a night a bar drinking, but don't want to be just drinking alone, instead just having a beer and a chat with a non creepy stranger.

If you want to organise a Buffyfest.

But really, you should just message me anyway, as I love seeing the little pink message icon thing light up!
