My self-summary
If Mount Rushmore were to be sculpted based on my four favorite people, it would look like this: Garrison Keillor, John Denver, Edward Abbey and Evel Knievel.

Keillor for being a great storyteller.
Denver for helping me fall in love with wild places.
Abbey for trying to protect them.
Knievel for being a fearless adrenaline junky before it was cool.

I don't have a long term plan for my life...I have long term PLANS. I have multiple possibilities as to which direction my life could go. I usually follow the path that has the most heart, change course when it doesn't...and things always seem to turn out okay.

I absolutely love traveling, mostly by bike. I'm an avid cyclist almost to the point of addiction. It's the most fun and liberating thing I can think of to do. My bike gets me around town, to work each day and is a freedom tool, taking me to amazing places all around the world. I have mountain biked through Tibet and Nepal to base camp on Mt. Everest, ridden from Cairo, Egypt through ten countries to Capetown, South Africa and this past summer rode from St. Petersburg to Barcelona, Spain. I have just began training to bicycle from Cartegena, Columbia to the southern most tip of South America from July - December.
Summer usually finds me bouncing around the desert southwest on my bike as well.

I know. I know. Too much about bikes.

I am an environmental warrior, but not as militant as I once was, however I try to leave the smallest mark on the world that I can (see biking everywhere). Had I been born in the right decade, and in the right place I'm sure I would have been a hippie. Currently researching how to build my own tiny house so I can live/work anywhere.

I have recently had the idea of taking that tiny house (or a camper perhaps) down to the Florida Keys, then driving all the way up to Seattle, all on back roads, and not passing through a town without stopping and volunteering at least once, and accepting no money. Mow a lawn, help trim trees, help a family move etc. I figure a bit more good vibes out in the universe couldn't hurt any.

I am currently teaching Drawing and Painting at the high school level-trying to show kids that there is more to life than computers, video games and the great indoors, hoping I can get them to realize that life is to be participated in and not viewed in the palm of your hand. (amendment: I just resigned from this job today!)
Here's where I am a hypocrite; I also freelance as a graphic designer which puts me in front of a computer for several hours each day. Jewelry is another fantastic way in which I can express myself...and a way that I can make a nice chunk of money every now and then...I'm talking real hand made stuff beads on a string.

I have not owned a television for 10 years so if you are in to watching lots of movies, tv, especially reality shows perhaps you should exit now.

I'm not much for small talk, and like deeper conversations, and enjoy having them with other people who are willing to question the world and how "things" work. So, if you think that Noahs ark was real, well, then this is your second warning to exit my profile. : )
What I’m doing with my life
Working as an art teacher and trying to get my own apparel line off the ground...a dream of mine for a while now. Traveling, looking for the next thing to make me happy or make me money. Anything to make my life feel meaningful...and different.
I’m really good at
drawing, painting, building things, riding a bicycle, rooting for the underdog, being nice to people, talking to animals, working for less than I deserve, being snarky to people who suck at customer service, hiking where there are no trails, graphic design, camping, sleeping on the ground, sleeping in a sleeping bag, and cooking breakfast.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not sure most people notice me at all. Stealthy...

I spend a lot of time thinking about
1. Why the hell 8 out of 10 girls on this website say they "love to laugh." Who doesn't like laughing? Does the act of laughing define you...or just make you human? That's what I'm currently thinking about.

2. What I am going to do next, professionally, to make me happy/challenge me/scare the crap out of me.

3. Where I am going to travel next! I'm thinking about Australia next summer, or perhaps the Pan American Highway.
On a typical Friday night I am
Same as everyone else on this site...staying in, going out, blah blah blah... : )
Ideally loading the car and heading out to wild places, to see friends who live in interesting places.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I like monster trucks, even though I'm not a redneck. : ). The yin to my environmental yang.
You should message me if have made it this far through my profile yet aren't appalled by what you've read ...and if any of these shenanigans above find you intrigued. want to travel (by bike) around the country or the world. are athletic, fit, active & adventurous.
...if I message you first. It's just polite.
