My self-summary
I'm originally from Wisconsin and, after spending five years on the east coast (New York and Philadelphia), I've returned to the midwest. Currently enrolled in a PhD program at U Chicago in Cinema and Media Studies. Chicago has definitely grown on me, but still, it's no New York...so if you think you have something that will turn me into a diehard Chicagoan, I'm open to suggestions.
I’m really good at
Crossword puzzles. I'd like to think that there are other things, but I'm coming up empty.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Illuminations (Rimabaud), Between the Acts (Virginia Woolf), Bouvard and Pecuchet (Flaubert), Molloy (Beckett), Wuthering Heights (Bronte, the better one), Vile Bodies (Waugh), Savage Detectives, David Copperfield...recently been enjoying Sam Lipsyte and Flannery O'Connor.

Bringing Up Baby (or anything with Katherine Hepburn or Cary Grant, the pinnacles of cinematic acting), Mutual Appreciation, M. Hulot's Holiday (or anything by Jacques Tati), 2 or 3 Things I Know about Her (by my OkCupid namesake), anything directed by Buster Keaton or Elaine May or John Cassavetes or Nic Ray or Fassbinder, Kings and Queen, Le Rayon vert & Claire's Knee (Eric Rohmer is probably the greatest filmmaker ever), Smiley Face (Anna Farris is god), Frownland...I could continue, but I don't want to bore you.

Twin Peaks, Arrested Development, Peep Show, Freaks and Geeks...

Neutral Milk Hotel, Bob Dylan, Talking Heads, The Kinks, Neil Young, Velvet Underground, Public Image Ltd., Olivia Tremor Control (or anything Elephant 6 related for that matter), Eric Dolphy, Thelonious Monk, The unicorns, The Fiery Furnaces, Sonic Youth, Man Man, The Beach Boys, Titus Andronicus, Minutemen, etc.

Everything, especially Ethiopian.
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the coming global cataclysm of 2012...and Death.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't understand the difference between "there," "their," and "they're." Not even sure of the difference between "I" and "eye."

I don't give a fuck about zombies.
You should message me if
You want to see a movie, see a show, get a drink, listen to records.
