My self-summary
"Curiosity is the most pleasurable of all vices".
- Friedrich Nietzsche
What I’m doing with my life
is spending it in one long effort to escape from the commonplaces of existence while trying to complete my doctoral research.
I’m really good at
sarcastic nuance, self-deprecation, impersonating people, memorizing lines, getting away with things, living inside my head, monastic dandyism, design and decadence.
The first things people usually notice about me
is the double illusion of familiarity and strangeness and maybe a slight accent that's hard to place.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Plato, Tolstoy, Thomas Mann, Rilke, W. B. Yeats, The Glass Bead Game by Hermann Hesse, Island by Aldous Huxley, J. L. Borges, Umberto Eco.

Music: The Well-Tempered Clavier, Beethoven's late string quartets, Schubert, Debussy, The White Album, The Velvet Underground & Nico, Berlin-era David Bowie, Radiohead, Aphex Twin.

Film: Tarkovsky, Bergman, Andrzej Wajda, Luis Buñuel, The Third Man, Touch of Evil, Sunset Blvd, Vertigo, Chinatown, Mulholland Dr.
The six things I could never do without
are family and friends, libraries, museums, musical performances, nature, introspection.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the things past, the never-ending search for beauty, the ethereal and phantasmal, wave-particle duality, quantum entanglement, the ten Sephirot.
On a typical Friday night I am
at the Diogenes Club
You should message me if
you're so inclined, if you get that some of my answers openly mock the prompts, and most importantly, if you find the standard practice of dating slightly distasteful; if you want to make friends first and see where things go.
