at some point i'm hoping the MFA thesis i completed a couple of years ago will morph into the full length book i want it to be. it's about theme park design.

i have an interest—well, bordering on obsession—with mid-century modern furniture. particularly the broyhill brasilia and lane acclaim lines. as such, there is often more furniture in my apartment than there should be, as i'm constantly buying pieces and refinishing them and reselling them.
i play (in descending order of proficiency) drums, guitar, bass and piano. i'm obsessed with disneyland. i have a tiki bar and a tiki mug collection. there are probably over 1,000 books in my apartment.
i will always be a jeans and t-shirt man but i have a sizable collection of aloha shirts; one of which i will don if the occasion is right.
i type in all lowercase.
i read an insane amount of shit. like, four books a week sometimes. almost entirely non-fiction. wait, that's not quite true...in summation—chomsky, zinn, turkel, klien. klosterman. verne, wells, clarke.

sci-fi, historical biopics, anything long and slow with lots of talking and gorgeous cinematography. 80s comedy (1st gen SNL cast type stuff). various personal cult classics.

i have trouble with a lot of current TV because i don't like shows where the camera isn't fixed (wobbles). mad men, however, is beautifully shot on a traditional dolly setup. with the best production design on the scene today. rejoice.

R.E.M. was my first true love; i'm kinda sad that they have decided to call it quits. even if their last few albums totally sucked. in my youth i was a bit of a skate punk. still am a bit. i'm the guy who will insist that "the old shit is better" no matter who we're talking about. ps. my youth circa 1994–1998 was dedicated, heart and soul, to a now-not-so-small band from san diego that was once called just 'blink.'
