I'm (usually) a software tester - meaning I get to play video games for a living. Unfortunately that's not quite as cool as it sounds. Imagine playing the same game over and over and over again for 50 hours a week for 6 weeks. Now that video game broken and full of bugs. Yeah, that's my job.
For starters, I love to travel. I've been to Europe a couple of times, and I'm planning on going again (and eventually somewhere in Asia, too). I've been to Germany, England, Paris, the Czech Republic and Austria - not counting the times I go to Canada and Mexico, which count for international travel, but just barely. And travel doesn't necessarily mean overseas - I'm just as happy on a road trip to Four Corners as I am strolling the streets of Rome.
As far as other interests go, I read comics, and I like to play all manner of Video game, board games and roleplaying games. I'm not in perfect shape, but I do work out two or three times a week down at the gym and I'm getting better.
Oh, and my user ID? I'm running with that because I couldn't think of anything else better, and it comes from my main character in City of Heroes. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!
As for what I'm doing here on okcupid, as part of my new year (although not necessarily a new years resolution), I'm going to meet folks - it doesn't have to be a date or love or long term commitment, just someone to be friendly with, or someone willing go out and do photography with them!
While I'm by no means a professional or anything, I'd like to think that I have a really good eye for taking photos. Don't believe me? Take a peek at some of my photography on HERE on flickr and judge for yourself! I've also expanded into shooting 35mm film lately - quite the challenge.
I'm also skilled in the ways of Soul Calibur, Halo, and Super Smash Brothers. And I'm mature enough not to make a joke about playing with my Wii. . . until now. Damnit!
Oh, and I'm told I give a mean backrub and footrub.
I don't read as much as I used to - just an artifact of getting older and more busy I guess. When I do read, I tend to favor science fiction of all kinds. From Edgar Rice Burroughs pulp to Douglas Adams and all points in-between. I love the pulp classics, Conan, Zorro, and the like. I also enjoy the occasional James Bond novel (which is a vastly different beast from the movies). My current read (at least as of this writing) is the copy of The Hunchback of Notre Dame that I got in France while actually at Notre Dame.
I'm all over the map as far as movies go. I'm always up for watching a monster movie - be it a 50's communism paranoia era Giant Ant flick, the classics like King Kong or a good ol' fashioned Kaiju like Godzilla. I enjoy horror movies (stuff like Psycho or an eighties slasher flick). I enjoy most of the classics like Citizen Kane or Casablanca (or even Star Wars). And then there's the Spaghetti Westerns (and Samurai flicks), cheesy blaxploitation movies, kung fu flicks or an action movie from 1982 before Schwarzenegger got soft and had three triple bypasses.
I don't watch much current American broadcast television, but I do watch all kinds of shows from the BBC. Mainly it's either Torchwood or Doctor Who at the moment, but I've enjoyed Life on Mars (what little I've seen), .
I don't really have a favorite genre of music. I love classic rock (like Pink Floyd, The Beatles and so on), I grew up in the eighties, so I can never get enough of synth pop, (Duran Duran, Berlin and so on) and I do occasionally enjoy old school rap (Grandmaster Flash, Sugar Hill Gang, the old Run DMC). I'm just starting to get into Jazz, but I ouldnt tell you one artist from another. Plus you cant go wrong with funk and soul. Oh, in the interest of full disclosure, I think it's only fair to say: I love Disco.
My favorite food: Thai and/or Asian food. I like making stir fry myself, I'm pretty good at spaghetti, and sometimes you just can' beat a huge plate of nachos. But really, if it's good - I'll enjoy it regardless of where it comes from.
That or just watching B-movies or Kung Fu flicks long into the night with some Chinese take out.
