My self-summary
My name is Atticus. Yes, I've read 'To Kill a Mockingbird.' It's one of my favorite books. I'm a loud person. I enjoy taking my Jeep off road, busting things on my F-350, and completely shredding the engine in my Dakota. (Update: Blew the engine in the Dakota more than 3 years ago. 4 seized pistons, and bust the coolant walls.) I love driving just for the sake of driving, it tends to help keep me level headed. I make no guarantees as to how much hair I have on any one day. It cycles between shaved and short. I was born in Port Townsend, WA. I've moved around a lot. Before I enlisted in the Navy, I spent the last 10 or so years in Southwest Missouri. Yes, I'm a country boy. I mix the country with being that guy that knows everything about computers and being a decent auto mechanic. I was a band geek from 5th grade till I graduated high school. I play trumpet. I enjoy hanging out with friends. Alcohol is NOT needed to make everything fun. I like exploring the area I live in.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a Sailor in the United States Navy, stationed aboard the Los Angeles-class Fast Attack Submarine USS Providence. I've been in over 5 years, and have less than one left. I'm a Fire Control Technician (I shoot torpedoes at people.) I enjoy being in the Navy, it's a good life, I've made a lot of friends, and it's a guaranteed paycheck. Money is NOT what my life revolves around, although it makes a lot of things rather easier.
I’m really good at
In my past life, I was an IT professional, specializing in *nix/*BSD system administration. I'm still damned good at it. I'm a decent auto mechanic. I'm really good at 'wrangling' sheep and goats and giving them all injections, and stabbing myself with the needle only every 1 in 15 shots.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm short-ish, and I enjoy driving overly large vehicles. I'm loud, outgoing (sort-of), and I enjoy just acting like an overall idiot at times (most of them).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Nearly any sci-fi book or movie. I also enjoy horror movies. Any music but jazz. Any food.

Favorite authors: Robert Heinlein, David Weber, Douglas Adams, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, and a whole slew of others. I own roughly 500 lbs. worth of books. I long ago stopped counting how many books, and measure by weight now.

Movies: They're movies. I enjoy them. I don't really have any specific favorites that come to mind.

Television: I rarely watch TV, but when I do it's usually Sci-Fi, Discovery, or The History Channel.
Six things I could never do without
Good question. I'll have to think about that.

After due consideration, I've narrowed my needs down to only one thing, a durable knife (think Ka-Bar). Once you have a knife, there is very little you can't fabricate for yourself to survive after that.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My career, if I have enough money to do anything with, and why isn't this code working right.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, driving around, having a good time. I like to get out, see things, go to the occasional party.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
While I highly value privacy, there is very little I'm not willing to share. Just ask me, and you'll probably get an answer.

I am a very blunt, and honest person. I don't lie, and I don't cushion the truths I tell. I'm almost always serious, and very literal. Many forms of humor will cause me to stop and think before I figure it out.
