I'm passionate and, I hope, relatively positive. Sincere and honest, occasionally to a fault, I'm just trying to take the good things in life and leave the bad things as I work my way towards making some kind of positive global change.
This section used to begin: "I would really like to have a career in international politics/relations/development" and I just finished 3 years in international organizations, so that's pretty sweet. I'm extremely critical about the work I did, and things in general, so I welcome whatever kind of conversation you might want to have about it.
My general philosophy is that we're all meant to maximize the amount of good we can do for the world, even if that just means doing whatever wild human thing you dig doing. This is an important part of who I am, and it is the motivation behind almost everything I do.
Except jamming out, that I do just because it's awesome.
I like to read though I wish I could do it more often. Some favorites are The World According to Garp, The Crying of Lot 49, Revolt of the Cockroach People, The White Tiger and Planet of Slums. I'm a nerd about most things I'm in to, and literature is no exception.
I guess I'm abnormally into older music (hence the username) but I also like all kinds of new music. I'm a huge sucker for anything that oozes, almost painfully, with soul (songs like "Don't Cry Baby" by Etta James, "I've Been Loving You" by Otis Redding or, to be more contemporary, "Lady" by Regina Spektor). Funky beats, nasty guitar riffs and mind-blowing lyrics also get me going.
I appreciate good movies, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is clearly supreme. The Wire is the greatest TV show ever made.
I really love and appreciate good food, as well as beverages, but I would feel silly listing out favorites because it's difficult to compare a fine Belgian ale to an Arnold Palmer, or deep dish pizza to sushi. Sushi is worth noting though, because it has been a life long obsession and is quite a leap ahead of the other foods for me. I tend to get a sparkle in my eye when talking about or eating good food.
The opposite sex also crosses my mind now and again.
I think there are an infinite number of connections waiting to be made between all kinds of different people. Life, when you boil it down, is about those connections and how they shape you.
GGG and, when casual, with a lot of kindness.
