My self-summary
I love:
-entertaining, and I've been known to throw a mad dinner party or two in my day. Game nights are also not an uncommon occurrence.
-exploring. Just booked my trip to Kauai and I am so excited! Feel free to drop me a line if you've got suggestions of must-do activities on the garden isle.
-learning! I'm always up for trying new things. I'm working on the guitar right now, but things aren't going so well on my own. It may be time to take a class.
What I’m doing with my life
By day I sing the ABC song pretty much continuously. I've also gotten ridiculously good at speed shoe tying. If this were an Olympic event I'd surely have a spot on the podium.

In the evenings I've been working on a massive secret project for my sister and experimenting in the kitchen.
Bacon jam is as delicious as it sounds.

In the in-between I travel around the world seeing new places and meeting up with old friends.
I’m really good at
untangling knots
navigating crowds
making pumpkin pie
finding the perfect gift
The first things people usually notice about me
If I had to venture a guess, I'd say:

My ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound
My nose in a book
My rapier wit
My piercing blue eyes

But really, I have no idea.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I'm generally in the middle of two books at once, one professional read and one just-for-fun. Currently reading How Children Succeed and Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls. I recommend them both. Go-to favorites include anything in AJ Jacobs' quest to do anything, or everything written by Mo Willems.

Movies: Generally I'm drawn to movies that make me laugh, cry or think. As far as movies I could watch over and over again, here is a short selection: It Happened One Night, The Philadelphia Story, The Princess Bride, Dirty Dancing, The Breakfast Club, Empire Records, Singin' in the Rain, Bull Durham

-TV: I don't really watch much TV. This list is mostly made up of shows that are no more, but that I would happily re-watch a third of fourth time: The West Wing, Sports Night, The Daily Show/Colbert Report, Dr Who, Smash, The Muppet Show, Pushing Daisies, and Chuck.
I keep hearing good things about Orange is the New Black, so perhaps that is next on my list.
-Radio: NPR. All of it.
-Theater: I'm partial to musicals, but really any time I see live theater I'm a happy camper. Well, that's not entirely true. There was that experimental show that left me covered in sand. That wasn't so cool.

Music: Great Big Sea, James Taylor, 80's pop, Regina Spektor, Ella Fitzgerald, I'm kind of all over the map. The only music I'm not able to get behind is techno or anything where it feels like I am being yelled at. I'm looking at you, Korn.

Food: I eat just about everything, with 2 exceptions:
1. I grew up with an allergy to chocolate, and while I outgrew the allergy, I did not outgrow my disdain.
2. Spicy food and I are not the best of friends. It appears that as I get older I can hang with it a little bit better than the giant wimp I used to be. Maybe one day it'll be my favorite thing?
Six things I could never do without
Without the obvious friends and family:
A hot shower
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What is it about a mid-song key change that adds so much energy?

No seriously, can anyone explain this to me?
On a typical Friday night I am
Fridays tend to be low key, dinner and drinks with friends.
Saturdays, on the other hand are usually an adventure.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I cry at the end of The Little Mermaid. Every. Single. Time.

For the record, here is a list of other animated movies that make me cry: Up, An American Tale, Toy Story 3, The Iron Giant and The Velveteen Rabbit.
You should message me if
You'd have fun storming the castle
You get excited about being called for jury duty
