My self-summary
I feel that most people are too wrapped up in imaginary things, in symbol manipulation, and in tasks with no tangible, rewarding end products; they're missing out on the benefits of smoothing something with a metal file, or rebuilding an old bicycle so it's better than new. I'll take steel, leather and brick over plastic, nylon, or vinyl any day.

I like movies, but I watch about zero hours of television a

I try to make my friends' lives a little better, and I want to feel
fulfilled without causing others harm.

It's important to be silly once in a while:

I speak fluent Spanish and terrible French. I'm
trying to learn Mandarin Chinese. My ASL is nearly
all gone, but I wouldn't starve on a deaf island.

I'm not a fan of spectator sports. Participation is key. I'd rather
play kickball (poorly) than watch the World Series.

I take pictures for fun:

I have a freshwater aquarium habit:

I can teach you to fish (non-metaphorically).

I think "serious relationship" sounds needlessly grave, like a
sentence, an infraction, or an affliction. It's an unfortunate term for a potentially brilliant situation.

I rescued a baby squirrel, and I'd do it again. That suggests a certain level of... something.
What I’m doing with my life
Broadly, I seek self-actualization with very limited collateral damage. It's tricky.
I’m really good at
explaining complex systems in accessible terms, and expressing utter and helpless confusion when I don't understand a complex system.
The first things people usually notice about me
Conversational skills, if I'm in a good mood. Invisibility, if I'm not.

DSLR, bicycles, kung fu, lots of books, lots of music, good people
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how most of us live in ways none of us evolved to handle well, how most people have no idea how evolution works, and how useful a personal time machine would be.
On a typical Friday night I am
happier than I was on Monday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm allergic to broccoli. It's hereditary.
