My life is a pretty healthy balance of my passions and responsibilities. Variety and contrast in each keep things interesting - getting a lot out of life is what I think keeps me looking, feeling and acting youthful. I'm capable of spending time laughing and enjoying the day, while deftly tending to my obligations. I've been successful in business but am not a workaholic. City-life energizes me and the outdoors soothe me. I find travel fun, yet it's always comforting to return to my own bed. I'm an idealist that loves to think about the world and the way it could be, yet appreciate that the devil is in the details. Science dazzles me, and I'm inspired by creativity and artistic endeavors.
I have few regrets because everything that I've done or that has happened to me has played a part in who I am. And I'm happy with who I am: friendly, easy-going yet accomplished, possessor of a healthy sense of humor, and a pretty freakin' smart Harvard guy. And did I mention modest? Really I am, but I'm thinking I have to sell myself at least a little bit on here.
I also have an interest in acting and have had some success with that.
It's back to that balance thing. I'm fascinated by technology and how it impacts people's lives and can change the world. On the flip side, I love having a creative outlet, which gives me a chance to step away from the computer screen and involves a substantial amount of self-discovery. Acting has helped me learn a lot about myself, while developing a robust sense of empathy for others.
More importantly, I can parallel park like nobody's business, in spaces you can't even imagine.
TV has become much more compelling the past few years. I still miss Breaking Bad, but am enjoying Westworld and am looking forward to the new seasons of The Walking Dead, Homeland, Game of Thrones. For comedy, Mom and You're the Worst - funny, biting, and refreshingly original.
One of my favorite pastimes is to eat out. I've learned to cook a little bit, but there are so many great places to dine out, that I can't compete. Chez Hector is on the ropes.
Music-wise, I enjoy various styles, and can tolerate others. Recently I've been listening to a lot of John Legend, the Avett Brothers, Of Monsters and Men, the Black Keys. Recently I've also been doing a lot of karaoke. Which, speaking of tolerance...
As far as reading, I've got my Amazon Kindle loaded up. I want to re-read 100 Years of Solitude and other works by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. We're both Colombian after all. I'm reading the Game of Thrones books, plus finally read the Malcolm Gladwell books - Outliers, Tipping Point, Blink.
