My self-summary
Greetings all, I am a linguistics major living abroad in Taiwan trying to pick up a bit of Chinese. I love being in foreign and difficult situations, so coming to Taiwan with no previous knowledge of it seemed quite appealing to me. If this sounds exciting to you as well (maybe somewhere other than Taiwan, though), I think we could be good friends!

我已經住在台灣兩年了, 真的好玩! 人都很熱心, 食物都好吃. 現在我想多認識好朋友!

What I’m doing with my life
I was student at Shida for a while when I first got to Taiwan, I'm currently taking a break from studying Chinese (though the learning never truly stops).

At the moment, I am tutoring and teaching English, though it isn't something I intend to do long term. But, it is fun getting to know my students!
I’m really good at
Listening, I suppose. I love to listen to people talk about themselves, their beliefs, anything. I suppose this is what got me into language study in the first place.

Skill wise, I got really good at calligraphy while in Japan. Pictures available upon request, if you're interested.

Update: My teachers think my handwriting sucks, but I still think my brushwork is nice! :3

I'm also pretty good at the-floor-is-made-of-lava. Just one of those things, I guess.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably that I'm carefree. I like to do pretty much everything and I will try anything once.

Also I tend to be really bad about shaving habitually. Stupid beard :(
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Recently I've been really interested in the Song of Ice and Fire series and TV series (Game of Thrones), as well as Breaking Bad. All the typical nerdy shows apply here as well, such as Futurama and Firefly. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know :)

1984 is probably the best book I've ever read, and I have to recommend it to everyone. Other than that, if I'm reading something it's either a research article or the new A Song of Ice and Fire book is out. Check 'em out, y'all :)

I love all types of food, and even though I like to cook for myself I am not a food snob. One night may be well prepared steak, the next night could be a ham-on-hand sandwich. Though I love Japanese food, I just can't bring myself to make it. Maybe my rice cooker is just awful? :(

My music tastes are random as all hell, so I won't bother you with specifics. I'll listen to anything with a good rhythm, however :p
The six things I could never do without
Most definitely the internet, my laptop, my friends, school, family, and a thirst for knowledge. Not necessarily in that order :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Chinese, Japanese, and language in general. Linguistics nerd here.

Other than that, various mysteries of the universe, such as:
damn black holes be scary
is beef what's really for dinner?
is there another word for synonym?
why is zerg so imba?
who invented sliced bread anyway?
On a typical Friday night I am
trying to be a social butterfly somewhere. If not, I'm watching a movie and drinking the pain away :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I love musicals. Russell Crowe's songs in Les Miserables were my favorite parts of the movie. I also sing Disney songs in KTV. Deal with it :P
You should message me if
you would like to hang out sometime,
you have a favorite animal,
you know another word for synonym,
you can see why kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch,
you want to talk to me using pulmonic ingressive speech,

or you would like to get to know more about me :3
