Oh, and when I drink I'm a happy drunk, which means I'm pretty fun to go out with, and also not too much of a latent asshole.
TV Sense8 is a pretty amazing and deeply humanist. The Killing (seasons one and two) is some of the best TV ever. Veep, Girls.
Movies Jackie Brown, my favorite QT movie. Anything by Cronenberg, Atom Egoyan, David Lynch, Pixar (except cars, what a bad idea), most from Tony Scott (always felt he was more intellectually honest than his brother), Let the Right One In, The Kingdom, basically anything created with care and a point of view.
Books Only just started reading fiction again recently; love the Song of Fire and Ice books. The Hunger Games trilogy was surprisingly brutal for 'young adult' lit. Robert E Howard is pretty good if you can get passed the rather racist undertones.
In non-fiction, just finished The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson, great book by an author with a wonderful voice.
