My self-summary
I think a lot. Whether it makes my life easier or harder, I do. I want someone else who does too. I hold seemingly contradictory pieces of information in my hands and try to reconcile them into my worldview. I would like someone else who does too. I have had some adventures in my life and try to always challenge myself to do the next difficult thing. I believe it is the way to good character and a meaningful, fulfilling life. I am very interested in self expression and seek it out through writing, music and painting lately. I run in circles outside of my peers and get along well with those who differ from me. I am working to get along better with those who are demographically similar. Thats enough for now. Maybe more to come... Its better than it was.
What I’m doing with my life
This guy pretty well articulates what I think along these lines and how I try to live:
I’m really good at
Self-improvement, introspection, coming up with a 3rd bullet point to add strength to a rhetorical argument. Trying new things - esp difficult or uncomfortable things.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Non-textbooks and non-peer-reviewed journals (Ive read too many of them). I like John Steinbeck, non-fiction, biographies, pop-science books, etc.

Movies: Forest Gump, Goodwill Hunting, Shawshank Redemption, - these are def up top the list.

Shows: Meh, mostly. I have liked at various times Futurama, the Simpsons (like a decade ago), Deadliest Catch (it inspired an AK adventure of mine), Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Nova, PBS in general. All that said, I haven't had a TV in a while now. When I do watch things, they are normally YouTube documentaries I find on random topics, or audiobooks or podcasts (mostly while eating dinner).

Music: Lots of it. Been to easily 50+ concerts in my life (I may be grossly underestimating this). My favorites include Mike Doughty, Jeffrey Foucault, Joe Pug, Radiohead, Method Man, and a bunch more.

Food: Just learning to cook more than (excellent) spaghetti sauce bachelor chow that I eat for weeks after. I am messing around w/ slow-cooker incantations and also cooking some indian food.
Six things I could never do without
A spiritual connection
Music ... (here is a video of me playing a song I wrote -
Something to write on
Connection and relationship
A challenge
That feeling of flow (that comes that comes with all the above)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Social relationships and networks. Civilization and history. Technology and our future. How to reconcile different ideas like science and religion.
On a typical Friday night I am
Home decompressing. Playing around with some musical instruments or writing or reading. Maybe out getting a beer with friends.
You should message me if
You like or resonate with something I say in here. Don't "like" me cause I won't ever see who you are. Say hello and we can chat a bit and maybe even meet. Don't worry I am a low pressure type and prob won't try to jump your bones til long after you want me to.
