My self-summary
Some tidbits:

Native New Yorker; teaching, writing, and researching for a living; went into the grocery store the other night with every intention of preparing a healthy dinner and walked out with tortilla chips, a tub of fresh made guacamole, and some Klondike bars--this is ok, yes?; the Muppet Movie soundtrack is indelibly etched in my brain; I have a thing for bad puns.

For what it’s worth, I prefer Goodfellas to The Godfather, the Yankees to the Mets, the Left to the center, Coltrane to Kenny G (yeah, I get that this isn't exactly drawing a line in the sand), the British Office to the American, The Simpsons to Family Guy, the East Coast to the West (usually).
What I’m doing with my life
I teach, research, and write about international relations, and edit a magazine that covers the literature, art and politics of war zones.

Also, travelling, as much as possible. Most recent trips have been to Moldova, Eritrea, Oman, Lebanon, Guyana, Algeria.
I’m really good at
Packing light and traveling far. Finding excellent food at little holes in the wall. Writing. Napping. Spending troublingly large amounts of money on records.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Recently finished reading Colson Whitehead's Underground Railroad, and am now deep into Zadie Smith's Swing Time.

Movies: The original Muppet movies, the original Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three.

Music: Jazz, soul, 90s rap, rock, and more jazz. Orchestra Baobab. A bunch of other stuff.

Food: I'll eat anything, and probably like it.
Six things I could never do without
Old friends
New Lands
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether alligators alligate.
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I like licking the batter off those electric mixer twirly things. That, and I stole some office supplies once.
You should message me if
You dare. *dum dum DUM*
