My self-summary
I'm pretty much a cultural critic, 24/7.
What I’m doing with my life
I became a software engineer about 15 months ago after spending the previous 3 years mostly teaching English abroad in Russia and South Korea.

In my free time, I've been practicing with my band, thinking up new automated sales/marketing software ideas, thinking about ripping off competitors' automated sales/marketing software ideas, and honing various arts/crafts.
I’m really good at
Chess, using analogies/examples to explain things, memorizing poetry, songwriting
The first things people usually notice about me
My impeccable enunciation, and improving posture. Also, I have a pretty big ass.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Augustus, Stoner, Homage to Catalonia, King Lear, The Merchant of Venice, Dune, Flannery O'Connor, Yeats

Barry Lyndon, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, This is Spinal Tap, Life of Brian, Eyes Wide Shut, Sleuth, The Conversation, The Apartment

The Simpsons, Louie, King of the Hill

Beatles, Can, Captain Beefheart, Os Mutantes, Gilberto Gil, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Moondog, Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, Steely Dan.

French, Japanese, Indian, Eastern European
The six things I could never do without
As long as you don't lock me in a confined space I'll probably be alright.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
good political slogans, good iambic couplets
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying to write some good 4-part counterpoint.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've reflexively ended a lot of phone calls with "I love you," regardless of whether that was professionally or socially appropriate.
You should message me if
You want to have a long conversation about US foreign policy, cultural history, criticism, or various entrepreneurial topics.
