My self-summary
Hmm, I try to be an ethical hedonist. While I love the pleasure of the senses (food, drink, touch, etc.) that pleasure should never come at another person's expense. I get along with a wide variety of people but can't abide fake people in any way. Real personal relationships are the most important thing in this life, so why waste time on people who are incapable of them? That doesn't mean every friendship or love interest has to last a lifetime, just that it's better if they're based on something real. Superficiality is not my cup of tea.
My favorite things to do are swimming in the summer, biking, seeing live music, drinking the best coffee I can find, cooking and eating awesome food, discussing politics with mushy-headed uninformed liberals (don't worry, I'm to the left of them, not the right), good conversation with friends, and meeting new, interesting, real people. Many of my good friends have been women, so I'm open to meeting people for friendship or dating. I'm currently in a relationship with an awesome, open woman who isn't into destructive jealousy (neither am I!).
One more thing, it occurs to me that I have no body shots in my pics (can't find my camera, hence the severely cropped shot and the webcam shot). I'm 5'10" 200lbs, not slim, but not huge either. Stupid beer...
What I’m doing with my life
Hey, I thought after I moved away from home I wasn't supposed to get harassed about that anymore! But I do have big business plans for the upcoming year - you'll have to ask me.
I’m really good at
table tennis, pool (always a sign of a wasted youth), cooking, organic gardening, getting along with cats, and finding awesome stuff for dirt cheap (you should see my kitchenware and cookbook collections).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'll have to start asking them, but probably my long hair with an indefinable color (is it red? brown? blonde?).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books - Tough one, I've been a voracious reader since I was a kid, but I'll throw out a few - "The Book on the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are" by Alan Watts, "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche, "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein, sci-fi, radical history, and anything well-written involving Taoist/Buddhist/pantheistic thought
Favorite movies - Bladerunner, Shawshank Redemption, Goodfellas, Casino, The Truman Show, any good sci-fi or gangster flick (I know, not the ultra-sensitive or artsy answer some of you are looking for)
Favorite shows - The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, cooking shows, but generally not much of a tv guy
Favorite music - Reggae, funk, African music, electronic, almost anything fun to dance to
Favorite foods - French, Italian, Caribbean, ultra-fresh seafood (especially shellfish), organic vegetables from the garden
Six things I could never do without
1) Great food
2) Decent wine (if I could afford great wine I'm sure I couldn't live without it)
3) Great beer (it's easier to afford than great wine)
4) The BEST possible coffee
5) Real friends
6) Table tennis
I spend a lot of time thinking about
human behavior in all of it's wonderful weirdness.
On a typical Friday night I am
having a couple of beers out somewhere or going dancing if there's good music playing!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm wimpy about biking in the rain.
You should message me if
You are fun, interesting, smart, not a bigot of any kind, not a junkie, not conservative, and you want to!
