My self-summary
Just moved to Williamsburg and am exploring the neighborhood.

I'm outgoing and love to laugh at myself (There's much to laugh at :P). I also tend to overuse emoticons when I text; it's true...

I don't take myself too seriously — a fact I hope was alluded to by my profile name. :)

I'm comfortable with math and science, and work for a FinTech firm in the Financial District, but am most passionate about writing (yes I'll totally exchange writing samples with you:)) and reading , and also enjoy acting (acted in a student film in college though admittedly not since), singing, learning about different cultures, and I'm getting into baking/cooking (if you know of any great classes, please let me know :)).

I enjoy ballet, the opera, visiting museums, great food (from Michelin to street food), and watching theatre & musicals, but also enjoy working out, motorcycling, bungee-jumping, and scuba-diving (got my license in a Dolphin reef) as well.

I also love wine (I had this gorgeous Emidio Pepe Montepulciano a few weeks ago :)). I also enjoy Whiskey/Cognac/Armagnac/Calvados, as my Instagram hints at. p.s. It's totally fine if you'd prefer water over spirits. I also don't drink on nights that I write and I've been on a writing spree. Yay. :)

As I'm sure you already know, it's difficult to paint a picture of oneself when confined to this little box, so please feel free to write or IM me. I promise I'm not as humorless as my pictures would make me seem. ;)
What I’m doing with my life
I spend the majority of my free time writing, or working on other side projects. The rest of the time I spend trying to get toight like a toiger.

I'm also trying to get into cooking/baking more.

I also enjoy checking out great restaurants :)
I’m really good at
Lol. Yawn. How about I tell you about my favorite webcomics instead?

http://www.smbc-comics.com/ is great (http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?id=4066, http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?id=4129), but if you really want to get my sense of humor, check these out:

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
If I could, I'd read a book a day (I've around 350 books on my kindle - how do I choose what to read next?? :P). Alas, I cannot, so here goes:

I most recently enjoyed Hemingway's "A Moveable Feast," Don DeLillo's "White Noise," Elena Ferrante's Neopolitan novels, James Salter's "Light Years," (Dear god what an incredible pen...) and Clarissa Pinkola Estés' "Women Who Run With the Wolves." I love Baldwin ("Another Country" - pretty much everything he's written :)), and have recently enjoyed Madeline Miller's "The Song of Achilles," Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath," (I prefer him to Hemingway and Faulkner :) Though Hemingway, despite the whole campy machisco thing, is a beast of a writer. :)), Maugham's "Of Human Bondage," Capote's "Breakfast at Tiffany's," Zora Neale Hurston's "Their Eyes Were Watching God," and Aldous Huxley's "Those Barren Leaves" (Uccchh... I. Love. Huxley.). Becker's "The Denial of Death" and Pirsig's "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" have influenced the way I view the world. I'd add "things I've learned" from Marcus Aurelius's "The Meditations," but I've yet to finish it. :P

I'm a bit picky about movies but of newer films I loved: Song of Lahore, Youth, Remote Area Medical, Tim's Vermeer, The Great Beauty, Blue Is The Warmest Color, The Sessions, A Single Man, True Grit, Blue Valentine, Waste Land, The September Issue, The Tree of Life, Miss Representation, After the Wedding, and The Artist (I tend to fast-forward through most movies. It's bad.). I also shamelessly admit to loving Love Actually. Groundhog Day's on point too.

I'll try any type of food twice (first reaction never counts).

I used to listen to a lot of Indie/Electro Rock, I'm now really getting into EDM, which I'm trying to learn to compose. Also. I love Purity Ring.
The six things I could never do without
Writing. I also like to stay in shape, and am a voracious reader.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Fictional stories I'd like to write. Gender. How we form our identities and how much of it is determined by our respective backgrounds (Kudos to Diaz's "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao").
On a typical Friday night I am
Writing, grabbing drinks with friends, visiting museums, seeing plays or dance performances, going to concerts, in bed wondering where it all went wrong, dancing, or having some amazing wines/meats/cheese over conversation.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm going to Burning Man this year. I have reservations but I thought I'd withhold judgement before I checked it out. :P

Game of Thrones has begun to bore me. I don't know what that says about me as a person... lol

I appreciate fashion, have enjoyed taking ballet classes in the past, and sometimes do yoga (though I mostly lift now).

Also, sometimes, I can't even.
You should message me if
"Just. Do. It!" - Shia Labeouf

Or if you're up for checking out wine bars/whiskey bars/dance/theatre/films/hole-in-the-walls/art events/fine dining/etc. in the city. I'd be happy to find a partner. :)
