My self-summary
I'm looking for a good guy with a good heart, who lives a quality life that means something to him, and who cares about the impact he's having on the world around him. It's what I strive for, too. I certainly like to go out and have fun, but what makes me feel most fulfilled are deep discussions, exciting artistic experiences, connecting with people 1-on-1, and learning new things about the world around me. But this doesn't mean I'm overly serious--I can be a total goofball sometimes.
What I’m doing with my life
Surrounding myself with an amazing community of people that inspire me, make me laugh, help me learn and think deeply about life, and that work to sustain the things and people they care about.

Love my job working with books, but always on the lookout for the next big opportunity. I've already been through a few career phases.
I’m really good at
Understanding why people think and feel they way they do. Listening. Others might say "singing."
The first things people usually notice about me
That I listen a lot. I'm not really shy or introverted, but I like to hear people voice their ideas fully or to hear all of a story, so I don't often interrupt.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I could spend hours talking about this, but will refrain. Here are some select favorites:
Books: Faulkner, Banville, Fitzgerald, James Baldwin, Annie Proulx, Tolstoy, Murakami, The Bluest Eye, The Song of Achilles, Between the World and Me
Opera: R. Strauss, Falstaff, Eugene Onegin, Così fan tutte, Khovanschina, Dialogues of the Carmelites
Movies: Nobody Knows, Caché, Newsies, Dreamgirls, Mulan, Gravity, anything Paul Thomas Anderson
Musicals: The Book of Mormon, The Color Purple, How to Succeed..., everything Sondheim
TV: The Wire, Downton Abbey, BBC period dramas, Catastrophe
The six things I could never do without
- Time outside every day
- Reading
- My phone
- Seeing my family multiple times per year
- Live performances of theatre and opera
- Empathy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why people do what they do, the future of society, urban planning and the built environment around us, the future of books and reading, what will improve my friends' lives, how people find time for TV.
On a typical Friday night I am
At dinner, a play/symphony/opera, a friend's house, a movie, or out of town visiting my family/friends around the country/world. Maybe drinks, maybe karaoke.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'll admit pretty much anything in person.
You should message me if
If something I've included in my profile resonates with you.
