My self-summary
Ex-Bohemian turned corporate, I'm a writer, photographer, poet, mechanic, fabricator (metal!), painter, photographer, an amateur machinist, and a Silicon Valley engineer. I like old sportscars and new biodiesels, drinking coffee and sleeping late, working hard and getting things done, relaxing with friends, a good conversation. I love the city but I've chosen to live in the 'burbs. I'll listen to any kind of music as long as it's good, though classical, 50's bee-bop jazz, and 90's "alternative" are some favorites. I like dusty old bookstores, art galleries, vintage sports car and motorcycle races, days out exploring and quiet nights at home (though sometimes the opposite.)

I like my family, and I've got wonderful, colorful friends. I'm down to earth, not impressed by glitz, and believe a person's value comes from within. I'm passionate about my hobbies, and serious about my career.

I'm open to making some new friends and having some fun along the way, but I'd like to find someone to share my life with. Are you intelligent? Funny? Educated? Take care of yourself? We might be a good match!
What I’m doing with my life
Working on projects to be proud of and spending time with people I care about. I'm learning, exploring, enjoying life and planning for the future.
I’m really good at
Fixing things, photography, invention, making cool old things shiny again, swingin' a hammer (though my carpentry days are behind me.) I used to be a great cook, I enjoyed the sights, sounds, smells, and sizzles, though I've been eating out for years (busy, and so many wonderful places to eat!)
The first things people usually notice about me
Intelligence, sense of humor, charm, dashing good looks....
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books? Well, you wouldn't have heard of them! Non-fiction technical stuff, mostly. I just picked up a copy of the second edition of Basic Disc Mastering. Should be great fun to read!

Music? I'll listen to anything as long as it's good! Try this crazy guy: "რობი / Outsider - ლოკავს". No idea what language he's singing in. Georgian maybe? Or these guys: Sun Hop Fat's "Kasaleftkut Hulu". Locals! PJ Harvey, Link Wray, The Drifters, Chris Joss, Carla Bley, Nick Cave, Dollar Brand, Eliades Ochoa, Soul Coughing, Mary Lou Wiliams, Steve Reich. Tons of stuff. Check out youtube for Saint Privat's "Une, Deux, Trois", Ane Brun's "Do you Remember", Selah Sue's rendition of "No Sunshine", this crazy guy: Irakli Charkviani "Zgvas gavxar" or "Menatraba", "Sun in the Sand" by Hussein El Masry, or for a laugh, try DJ Roz's "Beatles vs. Metallica - when I saw sandman standing there" (sure to make you smile. I like a little variety!)

I don't watch much tv, and I'm picky about movies. I'm more likely to watch the Daily Show, or Frontline than Fox News, though I sometimes listen to the blow-hards on AM talk radio just to stay "informed".

Food? I love to eat! One of life's simple (or sometimes not so simple!) pleasures. Anything as long as it's good. I don't eat very much fast food though I'll eat a burrito from a good "roach coach" or tacqueria. I enjoy a fancy meal shared with friends, though I generally eat pretty simply when dining alone.

For some reason, a lot of ladies were asking me about drinking, so I figured I'd touch on that delicate subject! I drank beer when when I was a kid, but gave it up for many years. After a couple of trips to Germany, I started drinking beer again, though not often. I grew up with good wine on the table, so it was never a big deal ("snob appeal" is _so_ unappealing!) I started drinking port a while ago. A good one is sweet, smooth, velvety, like chocolate-covered cherries melting in your mouth. My favorite Scotch is Laphroaig, either quarter-cask or triple-wood, though I don't drink much. I love the way it smells, rich, warm, smoky, exotic. Special occasions. Anyway, I don't drink much, so why not put something special in your mouth when you do?
Six things I could never do without
There's not much I couldn't do without, but why would I want to?

Good friends, interesting ideas, a worthy project, good food, good music. Oh, and a good woman!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Oh, you know what _men_ think about! ;-p
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Secretly, I'm really a very nice guy. (Shhhh! It's a secret!)
You should message me if
You're a good woman but not a prude, you're fun but not frivolous, open but cautious, warm, caring, a giver but not a push-over, intelligent but lighthearted. You're a woman who deserves a good man even if you sometimes doubt you'll find one!
